Chapter 21 - Milas Segrum

Thus, this was merely the icing on the cake.

I dismissed the status screen and tried to sense my body's current state.

I could sense the nanites mending together my damaged spirit veins.

My strained muscles and bones were also being rendered and rejoined, and I was slowly recovering to normal.

I sighed in relief, wondering how long it might have taken me to recover or even awaken if the nanites had not worked to ensure that my body was back to full health.

It might have taken several months or a year.

I felt slightly tired.

I decided to take a short nap and figure out the rest when I leave the hospital.

...

Two days later,

I had fully recovered.

I waved goodbye at Nurse Cynthia, who escorted me to the door.

I ignored the condescending stares from the students and medical personnel entering and leaving the hospital.

This wasn't the first time I had to endure their looks, but this time felt different - like a candle flame attracting the attention of moths.

Some of them stared at me as if I were about to end my life extension contract and connect to heaven's Wi-Fi.

"Hey, isn't that the Worst One! I thought that he had already been kicked out of the academy!"

"He's a noble clan's direct descendant. How could he be kicked out of the academy so easily? The son of a tiger is still a tiger, even if he's a fish."

They certainly have a lot to say!

"He defeated the Class 3 top ranked Magical Swordsman. He's not someone we should be taking behind about. What if he dares to challenge us to a duel?"

"He's a cheater! There's no way that loser beat Ivory. If he could, then what does that make all of us?"

"Shush! I heard that Instructor Sarafina had overseen the duel with Instructor Fredric because the Worst One had requested she oversee it. The last time something like this happened in her department, she crushed the student's pelvis despite the fact that he was a noble clan's descendant."

"Wait a minute! If that's true, doesn't that mean he doesn't trust Instructor Fredric and purposely bought over Instructor Sarafina so he could cheat? No one would claim he did in her presence."

"Fortunately, we heard of the matter before it was buried."

"Finally, someone who reasons as I do. Perhaps instructor Sarafina is also an accomplice in this."

"I never expected that loser to be desperate and incapable of fighting, that he dragged Instructor Seraphina into this mess. He's really disgusting."

Without hesitation, I dashed toward my dorm room.

When I arrived, I closed the door behind me and leaned against its frame.

"Thank goodness," I muttered.

Raising my head, I noticed someone was sitting on my bed.

It was a blonde-haired boy dressed in the Grand Avalon Academy uniform, with the insignia of a sword blazing with a cloudy mist embroidered on his jacket, indicating that he was a student of the magical swordsman department.

I knew him.

Milas Segrum.

A descendant of the Segrum Clan, known for a lineage of powerful mages.

If the Zahara Clan excelled in beast taming, then the art of magic was Segrum's forte.

Like me, he was the scorn of his clan because he awakened a limited number of Spirit Veins that were less than necessary to awaken the Mage Path.

But unlike me, he was able to become number one in the Magical Swordsman department rankings.

However, Ivory took that position during the last semester exams ranking.

He was unable to escape the fate of a scorned heir.

So, his most famous identity was his alias...

Unlucky Milas.

Even since then, he had been challenging her, but despite his strength, he couldn't defeat someone who had awakened a Rank Two Path Trait.

Even I would have lost the duel if I hadn't used my skill, 'Overclock mode,' to overpower and emerge triumphantly.

Based on his track record, there was only one reason why he would come to see him at a moment like this.

To challenge me to a duel.

Unfortunately, I wasn't interested.

I was more keen on uncovering how he had entered my room.

He wore a broad smile as he scrutinised me from head to toe.

"How did you enter my room?" I asked, my gaze narrowed.

"If that's your first question, it means you already know the reason why I'm here," he responded, still smiling lightly as he rose from my bed.

I ignored his words and asked once more, "How did you enter my room?"

Milas raised a brow. He contemplated briefly before responding, "I obtained your ID key from the dorm supervisor. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not the first individual to break in here. Due to your recent reputation, a group of students have managed to get a copy of your key and released it online."

He pulled a smartphone from his chest pocket and pointed the screen towards me.

The image displayed on the screen was that of an ordinary key, but with a barcode imprinted on its other half.

"Anyone can 3d print it and use it to break into your room. Though your bedroom looks normal, your kitchen has been entirely plundered. And your toilet... It's better if you get a professional plumber before making use of it."

I felt a rush of anger surge through me.

I pushed him aside and dashed towards my kitchen.

I arrived before the door, and after brief hesitation, I pushed it open.

My fridge was turned over on its head. One of its doors lay in the corner as though it had been flung to the other side of the room.

The sink was destroyed, and water leaked onto the floor.

The shelf that supposedly hung on the wall lay broken on the floor, along with some of the food items and provisions that I had stored within it.

Spoilt food littered around the ground, creating a dense scent that made me cover my nose in disgust.
