Chapter 224 - Chapter 224: Demon City?

Maybe the demons in this bunker just weren't that bright, or maybe collecting decks for research was a thing that had happened before. Either way, it all went even smoother than Kira expected.

He'd figured he might get found out and have to duel a few times to complete the prison all-deck collection. Instead, not a single duel was needed—he finished the achievement effortlessly.

Those not-so-bright demons all believed they'd get their strengthened decks tomorrow, not realizing Kira would disappear—taking every deck with him.

Yep, it was the weekend—he'd spent the whole day grinding this dungeon. Tomorrow, it was back to class.

This meant, for the demons, this Divine Messenger would vanish tomorrow—along with all their decks.

With his collection complete and his pockets full, Kira was ready to head home. But passing a break room, he overheard two guards chatting.

Demon A: "This week's been exhausting. First the jailbreak, then the Divine Messenger's inspection… Tomorrow I need to go to Mirage City and unwind."

Demon B: "Oh? You're going? Let's go together."

"Of course! I'm heading to Bloodcharmer Palace to party all night!"

Demon B's face changed: "You're a Bloodcharmer fan? Why? Shadowjoy Pavilion is much better!"

"What? You heretic—!"

Kira entered before they could start fighting, clearing his throat. The two demons jumped and straightened up.

"You were just talking about Bloodcharmer Palace and Shadowjoy Pavilion? What are those?"

The two exchanged glances.

Demon A: "Sir, maybe you don't know—Mirage City is the biggest city nearby, and those are its most famous pleasure houses.

Especially the succubi at Bloodcharmer—they're so skilled, you'll be kept up all night…"

He even blushed, looking dreamy.

Demon B: "Nonsense! The girls at Shadowjoy are even better! You Bloodcharmer fans just like other people's wives!"

Demon A flushed: "What's wrong with that!?"

They were about to fight again.

Kira ignored them and quietly left.

Mirage City… sounded like a spirit city.

He found a map and saw it was pretty close. It was also marked as under Orichalcos's control.

No wonder the guards could go have fun there.

Kira planned to be in bed by 11, not letting today's grind tire him out for tomorrow's classes. There was time to check out this spirit city.

He'd already looted everything from the bunker. The only regret was not finding the real Divine Messenger—his collection was stuck at 99%.

So, Kira left the bunker.

With all the decks gone, the bunker was now basically powerless. The demons' faces when they discovered the Messenger had vanished with all their decks would be priceless.

Following the map, Kira quickly found Mirage City.

It was a city with a rather dark aesthetic. Unlike normal brick or stone buildings, everything here was twisted metal and sharp stone, like hellish spires jutting from the earth. Pale blue or blood-red lights shone from within, casting eerie shadows on the streets.

Few people were out. Most wore black cloaks or showed off bits of monstrous skin. Sometimes, a cold wind would whip up dust and paper into swirling eddies.

"A demon city, huh?"

Kira walked on, observing the city's structure.

Shouldn't it be called Demon City?

Passing through a central plaza, Kira's gaze was drawn to a particularly striking building.

Blood-red, as if soaked in fresh blood. The roof is sharp and tall, designed with a mix of extravagance and menace. The little demons with heart-shaped tails at the door, luring in customers with flushed faces, made it obvious this was one of the clubs the two guards had argued about.

Of course, as a proper duelist, Kira wasn't interested in these places.

But…

"An enemy's presence," BLS whispered in his ear.

"Technically, we're already in enemy territory—isn't that normal?" Kira asked.

"No," BLS shook his head. "Orichalcos's aura—and at least a region boss. I've fought them long enough to never mistake it."

"Here?"

Kira looked at the massive demon club and pondered.

Even though he wasn't interested before, looks like now he'd have to check it out.

All for the mission, of course.

The demons at the door noticed the hesitating guest. After a brief exchange, a new demon came out.

Unlike the inhuman types outside, this one was a beautiful humanoid girl—probably chosen to appeal to his type.

She was alluring, skin like velvet under the red moon, her open neckline showing off elegant collarbones and a graceful neck—an invitation to explore hidden depths.

But despite her looks, she wasn't human—there was a heart-shaped tail behind her.

Kira got it. Probably a succubus-type demon, thriving on draining others' life force. He'd seen enough of those in anime.

"Don't just stand outside, come in and have a look," she greeted him warmly.

Seeing his lack of interest, she kept up the sales pitch: "Not into my type? No problem! Bloodcharmer Palace has it all—whatever you like.

You into fur or no fur? Demons? Beastfolk? We even have dragon girls."

Kira: "…"

Wow, demon cities really do know how to entertain cultured people!
