Using the Bunny's power, the Justice League expanded their search of the moon's far side.
But just as the Bunny was looking for them, the Kryptonian ship wasn't going to miss the Bunny either. Both sides spotted each other almost at the same time, and the Kryptonian ship opened fire.
The Kryptonian ship was 3 times bigger than the Bunny. They'd found a lot of usable supplies in several abandoned forward bases, and General Zod took it all. The ship had been transformed again and again—now it had become a fortress.
A laser shot out at an angle, slicing through one of the Bunny's tendrils, making the Bunny scream in pain.
"Looks like they found us first?" Wonder Woman gripped her sword, full of fighting spirit.
"Prepare to teleport," Superman ordered. Everyone nodded.
Whoosh!
The environment changed. They were inside the ship, metal walls exposed everywhere. They'd finally made it in, but the Bunny was gone. It had no weapons, and staying behind was too dangerous.
Kid looked around. He thought even if they landed in a corner, they couldn't hide from Kryptonians with super hearing. But before they even found any Kryptonians, he felt the ground shake—the fortress-like ship was taking off.
That wasn't good news. "We need to move faster," Batman said.
"Follow me," Superman said, already knowing where to go. They rushed through the narrow, oppressive corridors, reaching the ship's most important area.
The control room was huge. Thanks to Kryptonian tech, there was no need for many control panels—everything was hidden systems. Inside were 10 Kryptonians.
"Kal, is this your army?" Zod looked at the five of them and laughed. "Do you understand our situation now? Since coming to the solar system, our bodies get stronger every day. We don't even need to breathe to fly through space. Your little team has no chance."
Kid thought the same. Just look at Faora—she'd been badly injured before, but now she stood behind General Zod like nothing had happened. Sunlight really was the Kryptonians' miracle cure.
"You're underestimating my friends," Superman said.
"Soon they'll all be corpses. Kill them," General Zod ordered. He wouldn't let anyone stop Krypton's rise.
Boom—
In an instant, both sides were fighting.
Wonder Woman was knocked flying. Batman and Kid used their dark energy guns to push enemies back, while Flash dodged attacks. Superman punched one enemy to the ground, but the Kryptonian got right back up.
Huh? General Zod raised an eyebrow. Interesting, but that was all.
Superman knocked the enemy down again, then charged straight at General Zod, going for the leader first.
But the one who met him was a big Kryptonian standing behind Zod. His strength was even greater than Superman's. One punch smashed into Superman's face, sending him flying. Watching it all, Zod knew he still had the upper hand. The ship would soon reach its destination, where they'd deploy the gravity-modifying machine to change Earth's environment.
These people wouldn't be a problem. Thinking that, General Zod's eyes fired lasers, blasting the dark energy gun out of Batman's hands.
Batman cursed under his breath. Kryptonians really were the worst.
General Zod turned his head, and sparks flew from Kid's weapon too. Kid actually liked this gun—it could knock a Kryptonian back a few steps with one shot.
Seeing the situation turn bad, Flash grabbed his weapon and dashed into the corridor, with his opponent chasing right after him. The two started a high-speed chase through the ship.
With only half the Kryptonian force engaged, the Justice League was already getting pushed back. This fight wasn't going to be easy.
After Flash retreated, Batman also started to fall back, firing as he went. He knew he couldn't take them head-on. His only chance was to stall the enemy and look for an opening. He was a knight of the shadows—direct combat was never his style.
Meanwhile, Wonder Woman was fighting fiercely, using her magical gear to go blow for blow with the Kryptonians. She blocked their punches and heat vision with her bracers, then countered with swift, sharp slashes from her sword. She looked every bit the warrior, holding her own with skill and precision.
Then there was Kid. The moment Faora laid eyes on him, she recognized him immediately. Losing to a human was the greatest humiliation of her entire military career.
She stepped forward again. "You changed your outfit. I hope your combat skills didn't drop."
Kid grinned. "You lost once. I hope your skills improved."
"Damn you." She couldn't believe a human dared mock her.
In a flash, Faora appeared right in front of Liu A'dou, throwing a punch—but it stopped short. Her eyes widened. How was he so fast? She stared in shock at her fist, caught firmly in Kid's hand.
Liu A'dou countered with a punch straight to Faora's stomach. The force surged through her whole body, and she coughed up blood, eyes rolling back.
For a moment, Faora's mind went blank. She'd been punched by Liu A'dou before, but never this hard.
Liu A'dou had changed. His microcosmos had become a true microcosmos, letting him harness any force inside it. His punch contained the crushing power of collapsing stars and squeezed galaxies. The only reason Faora wasn't dead was because she was unbelievably tough.
"Faora?" The big Kryptonian fighting Superman yelled. He was Faora's closest comrade. During their genetic modifications, he'd suffered brain issues, often failing training tasks, but Faora had protected him from punishment. Seeing her hurt sent him into a rage. He stopped fighting Superman and shot his heat vision at Kid.
"Kid, watch out!"
Kid saw it coming and dodged quickly. The laser blasted a big, scorched circle into the wall.
"Arghhh!" The big Kryptonian charged straight at Kid.
'What the hell? All this just because I punched a girl?' Kid didn't hesitate. He let go of Faora and faced the giant head-on.
Boom!
The big Kryptonian lunged, arms wide, trying to grab Liu A'dou. But Liu A'dou moved fast, lifting his arms to catch and block the enemy's hands, stopping him cold.
Superman was still frozen in shock, so Kid yelled, "Go after General Zod! Stop the ship!"
Even though his mind was slow, the big Kryptonian's strength was terrifying. Liu A'dou was starting to struggle. 'Did he max out his strength stat by sacrificing intelligence?' he thought.
"You hit Faora. I'll kill you," the Kryptonian growled. His eyes began to glow, ready to fire his heat vision at point-blank range. With their arms locked, he was less than half a meter from Kid—there was no way to dodge.
These Kryptonian soldiers were ruthless. Seeing the incoming laser, Kid thought, 'Perfect timing.' He twisted his wrists, pushed with his legs, and flipped like a monkey leaping to the moon. Using the giant's chest as leverage, he tucked his legs and kicked him hard under the chin.
At the same moment, the giant fired his heat vision. But the kick snapped his head back, sending the lasers up into the ceiling.
Whoosh—
Deep burn marks appeared on the ceiling where the lasers hit.
Kid moved again. He wrapped his legs around the giant's neck, twisted his waist, and let go of the giant's hands. His whole body spun like a top.
The giant's eyes kept firing wildly as he spun, sending stray lasers all over. Even other Kryptonians had to dodge, breaking up the fight for the moment.
