Chapter 299 - The Unwelcome Top Student

Only after finishing all this did the Soul Sage feel a twinge of regret.

He had spoken too fast and forgotten one crucial detail—this was the Heavenly Court. Someone else's territory.

Luo Xiang glanced at him indifferently and sneered,"So what if you're a Soul Sage? Is Shrek really that impressive? A few days ago, your Sea God Pavilion's Gluttonous Douluo attacked. His Excellency noticed him—if Dragon God Douluo hadn't stepped in, that old thing would be buried by now. You're this headstrong—want to give it a try too?"

The Soul Sage was left speechless, half furious, half shocked.

Seeing that the situation was hopeless, he couldn't be bothered to keep warming his face against the Heavenly Court's cold indifference. If this place wouldn't have him, there were plenty of others.

Yet feeling Luo Xiang's gaze growing colder by the second, the Soul Sage didn't even dare leave behind a threat. He merely snorted, flicked his sleeve, and left.

Watching him go, Luo Xiang's eyes turned deep and contemplative. If Shrek only produced people like this, then they truly weren't fit to be recruited into the Heavenly Court.

Shrek this, Shrek that—if you're so obsessed, why leave at all? Just stay in Shrek for life. It was like someone from the Star Luo Empire entering the Tianhun Empire's court while constantly bragging about their motherland's prosperity. Would any emperor ever make use of such a person?

Jing Hongchen had played the role of a transparent observer the entire time. By now, he had seen clearly—Heavenly Court and Shrek were on bad terms. That was good news.

Registration continued. After two more candidates, another Shrek student stepped forward.

"Name?"

"Lu Qingming."

"Martial soul?"

"Ten Thousand Beasts Codex."

"Soul power level?"

"Level twenty-nine."

"Academy?"

"Douling Royal Junior Soul Master Academy… Shrek Academy."

When mentioning Shrek Academy, Lu Qingming felt uneasy. Judging by Luo Xiang's attitude earlier, he suspected the Heavenly Court might hold prejudice against Shrek graduates.

As expected, the staff member's questioning grew more detailed upon hearing "Shrek."

"You haven't graduated from the outer court yet, have you? Did you drop out, or were you persuaded to leave?"

Lu Qingming lowered his head slightly and answered honestly,"Neither. I was expelled."

The staff member glanced at him in surprise. At least this one was straightforward.

Lu Qingming thought he was already eliminated and felt somewhat dejected. But then the staff member's voice reached his ears:

"Go wait to the side. Someone will take you in shortly."

"What? I—I passed?"

Lu Qingming froze for a moment, slow to react. Then joy surged up.

Students expelled from Shrek were more or less discriminated against outside, yet he saw no such emotion in the staff member's eyes.

Unconsciously, Lu Qingming developed a favorable impression of the Heavenly Court. Thinking back, just over a year ago he had competed alongside Huo Yuhao in Shrek. Now that guy stood at the very peak.

Lu Qingming felt no jealousy—only pure admiration.

Truth be told, Lu Qingming had been suffocatingly wronged. His family had some influence in the Douling Empire and had taken the matter all the way to Shrek's administrative office. Who would've thought Fan Yu from the Soul Tool Department would step in to back Zhou Yi?

A Soul Douluo plus a Level Eight Soul Engineer—far beyond what Lu Qingming's family could afford to offend.

And so, Lu Qingming had left Shrek in disgrace.

After him came Xiao Hongchen. The staff member continued with mechanical questioning. Upon learning that Xiao Hongchen was from the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy, he merely gave him an extra glance before letting him pass.

The process was so smooth it felt unreal to Xiao Hongchen.Weren't people from the three Douluo empires supposed to reject those from the Sun Moon Empire?

Watching all this, Jing Hongchen felt extremely satisfied.

Xiao Hongchen later passed the second round of review as well. Due to his status as a soul engineer, he was assigned to the Soul Tool Hall.

On the third day after Xuanzi's attack, disciples discovered more than a dozen severed heads hanging at the Heavenly Court's mountain gate. These people had been stubborn—but iron heads were no match for the Heavenly Court's blades.

Among them were the two Shrek spies.

When Yan Shaozhe learned of this, he flew into a rage—but took no substantive action. Declaring war on the Heavenly Court would only end in mutual destruction, and Shrek's enemies were far more than just the Heavenly Court and the Body Sect.

Within the Bright Realm, Huo Yuhao sat cross-legged at the center of the Evolution Formation. Golden light representing fate shone intensely around him, illuminating the entire small world as the formation was pushed to its limit.

After a long while, Huo Yuhao opened his eyes, a trace of helplessness flashing within them.

Six months had passed since Xuanzi's attack. Not long ago, his cultivation had reached Level sixty-nine. Such rapid progress was thanks to the growing number of people joining the Bright Realm, allowing it to continuously strengthen.

But after reaching the peak of Level sixty-nine, he could no longer advance even a step.

The road ahead felt blocked by a massive gate—no matter how fiercely he charged, it would not open.

Through the Evolution Formation, he learned the reason: world suppression. The rules of the Douluo World itself were restraining him.

At Level sixty-nine, Huo Yuhao already possessed genuine Extreme Douluo-level strength. If he broke through Level seventy, he might even touch the true essence of godhood.

Yet at this moment, he was suppressed by world laws—as if the current Douluo Star simply did not allow gods to be born.

What Huo Yuhao couldn't understand was this: wasn't he the Child of Fate? Why would the world's rules suppress him?

Though irritated, through deduction he vaguely glimpsed a chance to break through. That opportunity lay in the western part of the continent—and it was extremely dangerous, a true nine-deaths-one-life ordeal.

But Huo Yuhao had no choice.

Trying meant hope.Refusing the risk meant remaining a mountain king forever.

With a light wave of his hand, a gray mass of energy appeared before him.

This was the Power of Creation.

The Heavenly Demon Art had three stages: Spirit Motion, Soul Condensation, and Dao Entry. After his martial soul's second awakening, he had reached the Soul Condensation realm.

Later, when his spiritual power broke through from formless to tangible, the technique advanced as well—reaching the peak of Dao Entry.

The Heavenly Demon Art had no fourth stage, but that was only because its creator had never had the chance to complete it—not because this was its limit.

During the ten years in the God-Given Space, Huo Yuhao had attempted to create a fourth stage. Though he failed, he had already grasped some clues.

The Heavenly Demon Art primarily cultivated the soul, with the body as a secondary focus. The Power of Creation was an energy accidentally catalyzed during physical cultivation.

It nourished the body, and over time, caused it to evolve toward a more perfect state—one better suited for cultivation.

With another wave of his hand, Huo Yuhao somehow grabbed a Softbone Rabbit.

White and plump, with smooth fur—it looked rather cute.

Huo Yuhao pinched its long ears as its limbs flailed wildly. Smiling faintly, he guided the Power of Creation into its body.

The next scene was utterly bizarre.

The rabbit's body twisted. Its ears retracted, its nose protruded and thickened, its tail grew long and thin, and its soft fur turned into coarse black bristles.

In just a few breaths, the Softbone Rabbit had turned into a black-haired pig.

The bizarre change terrified the creature. It tried to scream—

But what came out was a pig's squeal.

Looking at the fat pig in his hand, Huo Yuhao tossed it aside in disgust, though a faint smile tugged at his lips.

The Power of Creation could not only improve one's own physique—it could also influence external objects.

It could alter the form of dead matter like earth, wood, stone, and metal. When applied to living beings, it could change their bodily structure.

If the target lost all resistance, Huo Yuhao could even turn a Titled Douluo into a pig.

Ordinary pigs could not cultivate. Their bodies lacked any mechanism for soul power circulation.

Once transformed, such a soul master would be like one cursed—unable to mobilize soul power, condemned to live forever as a pig.

Realizing he could play it like this, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but grin shamelessly.

If the opportunity arose in the future…He could always open a Tang Clan pig farm.
