Chapter 149 - Chapter 149: Are You Serious?

After the Battle of New York, the world changed.

Many secret forces began working overtime, desperately hunting for information about Bella, the mysterious woman who had unleashed terrifying power during the demon incident. She had become something of a legend overnight.

Surprisingly, S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't join the mad chase. Instead, they kept their distance.

Director Fury was no fool. He understood one thing well—you don't provoke someone like Bella. It was far better to keep a quiet, respectful distance than to make an enemy out of someone so powerful.

Fury knew that the Goddess of Judgment didn't particularly like S.H.I.E.L.D., but at least she wasn't openly hostile.

And for Bella, none of it really mattered.

She didn't have time for political games or cloak-and-dagger nonsense. She found all those tricks boring. If she had to choose, she'd rather take little Sally and Angie on a road trip, somewhere quiet and peaceful.

But if someone did decide to start playing games with her?

They'd regret it.

The battlefield today was proof of that. Bella had watched Sanjid closely—and she was pleased.

He had done well.

In just a month, the boy had grown from a mere apprentice into a capable demon slayer. Not only did he hold his own against a real demon, but he killed it, showing strength, skill, and cold resolve in the face of darkness.

What impressed Bella most wasn't just his power—it was his calm mind during the chaos.

His training had clearly paid off.

She didn't praise him openly, but her eyes showed approval. And for Sanjid, that was everything. He practically glowed with happiness, even though he'd just fought for his life and taken one.

His cheerful grin was in sharp contrast to the ruthless way he'd ended the demon. A sunny young man with the instincts of a warrior.

Tony took note.

"Impressive," he muttered, raising his visor as he walked over. His tone was joking, but the jealousy was real.

"You trained him like this in just one month?"

As a billionaire genius who spent years building and refining his Iron Man suits, Tony couldn't help but feel a little sour. He had worked his way up the hard way, through trial and error.

And now… Bella had trained a kid in weeks who could already rival him in raw combat.

Still, he wasn't bitter. Not truly. Tony Stark didn't envy others—he simply took it as motivation.

"I'll just build better armor," he told himself. "Something stronger. Something faster."

Bella, meanwhile, gave him a blank look. She could tell he was trying to tease her.

Before she could reply, Tony's tone shifted. His expression became serious.

"By the way, J.A.R.V.I.S. picked up a strange magnetic field just before the fight ended," he said. "There's a blurry image, but it's weird. The face wasn't clear, but the eyes... they weren't human."

That got Bella's attention.

Tony knew from experience: if Bella showed up in person, it meant something big was going down. She didn't just appear for minor threats.

Even more concerning, if she failed to catch the mysterious figure—it meant they were on a whole different level.

Sanjid's face tightened. "So I wasn't imagining it. I did feel something was off."

Bella nodded.

"It was Mephisto's doing," she said plainly. "And now that you've interfered, Sanjid, he's set his eyes on you."

Mephisto.

Tony and Sanjid froze.

The name sent a chill down both their spines.

"He's back?" Tony asked quickly. His mind raced. He still remembered the first time they crossed paths. The meteorite. The destruction. That overwhelming feeling of helplessness.

Mephisto wasn't just powerful—he was cruel, manipulative, and cunning. If he had returned, the Earth was in serious danger again.

Sanjid looked grim. He knew he wasn't strong enough to fight the Demon King yet. Not even close. And now, he had a target on his back.

"Relax," Bella said calmly. "Mephisto's just a shadow here. He can't act directly. For now, he can only use tricks and illusions."

She raised her hand, and a glowing screen appeared in the air. It displayed a full-body image of a man—Wesley, the mortal body Mephisto had recently inhabited.

"This is what he looks like now," she added.

Tony studied the projection, eyes narrowing.

But deep down, he knew the truth. Even this image wouldn't help. Mephisto wasn't something you tracked with satellites or surveillance. Not even Heimdall could find him when he wanted to hide.

The only one who could was probably the Ancient One.

Still, seeing Bella so composed helped him breathe easier. If she wasn't panicking, he wouldn't either.

"He's strong," Tony thought. "But Earth isn't hell. And with Bella here, Mephisto isn't going to tear the sky open anytime soon."

Suddenly, Bella turned to Sanjid.

"You did well today."

The boy straightened, eyes wide.

"From now on, I want you to continue tracking Mephisto," she said.

"Follow his trail. Don't let him vanish again."

Sanjid blinked. The weight of the mission settled on his shoulders.

But after a moment, he nodded firmly. "Understood."

Inside, he was excited. He wasn't afraid—he was ready.

Tony, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow.

"Are you serious?" he asked, surprised. "He's good, no doubt, but he's still a bit young to be chasing demons."

Bella didn't reply at first.

Her mind was already made up.

Mephisto wasn't interested in her—not directly. But the look in his eyes before vanishing, the way he had watched Sanjid... he wanted the boy.

If that was the case, it was better to turn the tables.

If the bait walks willingly into the ocean, the fish might rise faster.

"Here," she said suddenly.

With a small motion, two beautiful guns appeared in the air, floating toward Sanjid.

The Bloody Rose and the Goddess of War.

They were no ordinary weapons.

The twin pistols were futuristic and sharp. One was red, the other white, each etched with fine silver lines. Their large 12.7mm barrels gleamed in the light. They looked like ancient relics mixed with advanced technology.

Sanjid reached out and caught them both.

He could feel the power humming inside—the weight of hundreds of souls, the strength of countless battles.

One radiated righteous wrath.

The other, holy vengeance.

Bella's voice was quiet. "These will help you. But be smart. Don't waste your strength. Mephisto plays the long game."

The boy held the pistols tightly.

And for the first time in his life, he didn't feel like a trainee anymore.

He felt like a knight.
