~Kael's POV~
I stood outside Rhiannon's door with my fist raised, hesitating. I'd watched her spar from the shadows of the training ground.
Her fluid actions made it impossible to look away, despite a few hiccups and mistakes.
Her strength, her fire… it was undeniable, even with dirt smudged across her face and sweat dampening her hair.
The way she'd held her own against Talon, the spark in her eyes when she refused to back down, that clever move she'd pulled to bring him down with her… it had all stirred something deep in my chest that I couldn't quite name.
"She's magnificent," Karl rumbled approvingly in my mind.
"I know."
"Then stop standing here like a nervous pup and knock."
I knocked again, this time more gently. "Rhiannon?"
The door opened, and she stood there, still in her training clothes but with a towel in one hand.
