I sniff hard, nose already blocked, eyes burning.
"Sob… sob…"
I hug the cushion tighter to my chest, fingers digging into the fabric like it's the only thing holding me together. My legs curl up fully now, knees pressed to my stomach.
On screen, the FL stands alone in the rain.
Alone.
My lips tremble.
"Why… why did he leave?" I whisper at the TV like she can hear me.
My vision blurs. I swipe at my eyes with the back of my hand, but it only makes things worse.
"Where did that stupid CEO go, huh?" I choke out. "You just disappear like that and leave her suffering alone?"
Another tear slips down. Then another.
I sniff again, louder this time, shoulders shaking. My chest feels tight, like something heavy is sitting there.
"She waited for you…" I mutter, voice cracking. "She trusted you…"
The FL collapses on screen.
That's it.
"Ah—!" I gasp, pressing a hand over my mouth as tears spill freely now. I bend forward, elbows on my knees, head dropping.
