"Old man, let Light go!" Uchiha Yao's strange behavior made Uchiha Gin feel alienated. His eyes glowed red, pupil techniques primed for his command.
Tsukuyomi, ready to deploy!
Seeing Gin's combative stance, Yao paused, then stepped aside, opening a path. "It was just a stress response test. Take her back."
Surprised by the quick compliance, Gin frowned, dispelling the pupil power in his eyes, which returned to normal. Wary, he stepped into the lab.
Inside, he saw Uchiha Light on a central bed, still unconscious. Her wrists and ankles, bound by straps, were red and swollen from struggling, sparking pity and rage in Gin. His eyes reddened again.
Maybe Amaterasu's the way to go!
Light's face bore a pained expression Gin had never seen—brows furrowed, breathing erratic, lips clenched as if trapped in a nightmare.
"What did you do to her? For the sake of family, spill it, and I might leave you with your dignity," Gin growled, already plotting Amaterasu's use, despite no visible injuries.
"Just basic emotional guidance," Yao replied, his tone icy, eyes stiffly locking onto Gin.
"Tomorrow's your turn. Cooperate and don't resist needlessly."
Ignoring him, Gin tore the straps off Light, glaring with crimson eyes. "Cooperate? Touch us again, and see what happens!" A surge of pure Yin Release chakra lashed out, enough to unsettle most ninjas—a lesson for the old man.
Yao stayed silent. Gin, ignoring him, hoisted the unconscious Light onto his back and left.
Yao melded into the lab's shadows, half his face lingering in the light. His lone eye flickered with clarity, but as the shadows consumed him, he vanished entirely.
Carrying Light, Gin tread lightly. Her labored breathing persisted, showing no sign of waking. Whatever "emotional guidance" she'd endured had left her frail.
Gin cursed his weakness. If he could fully master his Mangekyo, he could've shielded her. His frail body, unfit even for a ninja, had miraculously awakened Mangekyo—a transmigrator's boon. To go further, he'd need science or a cheat.
Ugh, why no system? I'd kill for a body upgrade!

The previous day, in the clan's archives, Uchiha Mio looked up, troubled. Yao's behavior felt off.
Yao, a master of all clan texts, shouldn't forget documented cases. Recalling Yao and Yan being "sent away" together, the sharp-witted Mio grew suspicious.
I need to get back!
The archive was far from the institute, and night had fallen. He'd leave at dawn.
The next morning, racing back, Mio received Yao's pre-prepared "war weapon" report.
With the document, he sought Tajima's judgment, leading to their earlier meeting.

"Uchiha Gin, come out!" After a sleepless night by Light's bedside, Gin looked up at several unfamiliar men, his gaze darkening.
"What did you do to her?" Light remained comatose despite his efforts, clearly tampered with.
"Want answers? Come with us," a cold-faced man said.
Glancing at Light's pained face, Gin's anger surged. He'd see what Yao had done. "Let's go."
His eyes glinted dangerously as he followed the men to the lab.
Inside, Yao was scribbling at a workbench. Unfazed by Gin's arrival, he finished writing, nodded, and handed the file to an aide to deliver.
"Sleep well, old man?" Gin asked through gritted teeth, regretting not using Tsukuyomi despite the cost.
"No, busy with the proposal," Yao replied, unshaken, fueling Gin's doubts.
"Three seconds. Tell me how to wake Light." Yao's nonchalance enraged Gin. His eyes reddened, a chilling aura filling the lab.
Unfazed, Yao studied Gin's eyes thoughtfully. "Don't rush. Have you noticed your eyesight declining lately?"
Thrown by the odd question, Gin frowned. "So what?"
Each Mangekyo use had worsened his vision, though not as badly as some future Uchiha.
"As expected," Yao nodded, waving. "Lie on the bed."
"Don't dodge the question!" Gin's tomoe began spinning with his rising emotions.
"If you want to know what happened to Nameless, cooperate," Yao said, frowning at Gin's aggression. "If you won't talk…"
Yao's insistence on the experiment pushed Gin over. His eyes shifted, Tsukuyomi primed. Even if Tajima scolded him later, he'd vent his rage.
No transmigrator gets played by a native! Watch this…
But a faint glint flashed in the darkness behind him. Focused on casting, Gin felt a sharp pain in his neck.
Before he could turn, a figure injected a full syringe of unknown liquid into him.
As he tried to resist, overwhelming drowsiness hit. His raised hand fell, and within moments, he was out.
Researchers swarmed in, attaching testing devices to Gin's body to record baseline data, as they had with Nameless the day before.
For safety, they strapped his limbs before starting the machines.
An hour later, the lead researcher approached Yao. "Subject's body scan complete. No anomalies."
"Leave. I'll handle the next phase alone," Yao said, entering without looking back.
"Yes." The team packed up and left.
Yao stood by the bed, gazing at Gin's sleeping face, a flicker of nostalgia in his eyes. But a dark glint passed, restoring his cold demeanor.
"Gin's Mangekyo consumes too much pupil power. His vision's fading before we've tapped its potential," a strange voice said.
Yao didn't turn, familiar with the speaker. "Indeed, his eyes won't last until my plan's day."
"Heh heh heh, that girl's eyes from yesterday are intact, and her abilities outshine this kid's. Use her!" From a pool of inky darkness, a black figure emerged—the one who'd drugged Gin.
"Wangliang, even as my clone, don't make my choices. I'll decide," Yao said sternly.
"Heh heh heh, as your embodiment, I know your true desires," the shadow replied, its eyes glinting eerily, tone sincere.
