"I just don't know… could they truly be fused into one? A new dōjutsu that combines all the strengths of both?"
In the dim light of his private chamber, Uchiha Yue continuously alternated between the tomoe of the Sharingan and the crystalline clarity of the Byakugan, letting both dōjutsu manifest in his eyes in turn. The thought crept up unbidden, persistent.
To Uchiha Yue, the benefits of possessing a Byakugan in one eye were notable—but they hadn't proven as groundbreaking as he had hoped. Even if a unique ability were to arise from the Byakugan in time, he didn't understand its underlying principles well enough to influence its development directly. The randomness of such a process made it unreliable.
Under such conditions, Yue found it difficult to believe that any latent Byakugan technique could rival the Mangekyō abilities he had carefully crafted and awakened through deliberate emotional and strategic evolution. Moreover, the eyes were among the most fragile and irreplaceable parts of the human body. To house two distinct and potent ocular powers—no matter how peacefully they currently coexisted—posed inherent risks.
What would happen when the Byakugan's power matured fully? At present, there was no visible backlash. But even if, at the final stage, the two powers could still remain in balance, they would each place heavy strain on the optic nerves and chakra pathways. While typical Mangekyō blindness might not apply to someone with his control, the mutual interference between the dōjutsu could make future evolutions far more complex.
Of course, all of this remained theoretical. Perhaps groundless. But the potential was undeniable. If a perfect fusion were achievable, the result could rival or surpass even the Rinnegan and Tenseigan—legendary ocular powers tied to the Sage of Six Paths and the Ōtsutsuki legacy.
"Well, even if the concept is compelling and technically plausible, the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan's value to me is too high. A reckless experiment could destroy my external eye. That loss wouldn't be worth any hypothetical gain."
"Besides, the Byakugan has the potential to evolve into the Tenseigan, just as the Mangekyō evolves into the Rinnegan under the right conditions. If I force a merger now, it might block access to both higher forms later."
"So, for the sake of maximizing future benefits, I can't indulge in wishful thinking right now."
Despite a flicker of excitement at the
possibility, Uchiha Yue refrained from immediate action. He disciplined his thoughts and calmed his impulses, setting aside the alluring but dangerous idea—at least for now.
Time flowed steadily onward.
During this period, Yue secluded himself to further refine and master his new abilities. Occasionally, out of boredom or interest, he would enter his Dream Domain and use it to train a charming, miniature construct of his own design.
Meanwhile, at the border of the Land of Fire, one of Uchiha Yue's Wood Clones led a contingent of Konoha shinobi to thoroughly eliminate the remnants of the Cloud Village's invasion force. With the last resistance snuffed out, Yue—through even a mere clone—did not pause. He immediately organized a task force and advanced toward the Land of Lightning.
The Land of Fire had already paid a steep price in lives and property. Refugees still wandered without shelter, and damages remained unaddressed. Yue knew full well that if he didn't strike first, the war would eventually find its way back—onto his doorstep, his people's land, and ultimately, his own hands.
But before he could cross further into enemy territory, a thunderous force intercepted him: the Fourth Raikage had arrived, leading a squad of elite shinobi.
"So, you're Uchiha Yue? Hand over Bee!"
Raikage's body sparked wildly with his Lightning Release Chakra Mode. His voice was harsh, clipped, and boiling with rage.
"The Fourth Raikage?" Yue mused, unfazed. "You certainly look the part. But if I just handed over Killer Bee like that, wouldn't I lose face?"
Standing imposingly, Uchiha Yue's calm reply made Raikage's expression twist in fury.
"You're courting death!"
Without hesitation, A roared and became a flash of lightning, dashing forward with blinding speed. His fist, crackling with violent electricity, was a split-second away from Yue's forehead.
But the blow never landed.
At the last possible moment, Yue raised his palm effortlessly, catching Raikage's punch in midair. The force was immense—but Yue held it, unmoved.
"You…!"
Raikage's pupils narrowed in shock. Yet despite his surprise, his body responded instinctively. An eruption of even more intense chakra surged through him. His other hand, shaped like a cleaving blade, arced toward Yue's neck at double the previous speed.
"Lateral Bolt of Pain!"
This was one of Raikage's signature techniques—fast, lethal, unstoppable.
"Hmm."
Yue's eyes narrowed at the faint sting on his skin. But instead of panic, he responded with brutal precision. With a subtle twist of his arm, he shifted the fist he was holding, turning Raikage's own body against him.
Boom!
The impact was deafening. A fierce shockwave blasted outward. Raikage's own Lightning-Chakra-infused arm collided with his chest armor. Had he not been wearing reinforced protective gear and possessed one of the strongest physiques in the shinobi world, his arm might have been severed.
Still, the armor shattered. His momentum broke. And the offensive technique failed entirely.
"Not bad power," Yue said blandly, still gripping Raikage's wrist. "But not nearly enough."
Before the Raikage could regroup, Yue's grip tightened once more—and an overwhelming force erupted.
Boom!!!
This time, Raikage had no defense. He was smashed bodily into the earth, forming a crater five meters wide. The sheer shock left him gasping, sprawled and aching at the pit's center.
"You bastard… don't get cocky!"
The pain didn't matter. The shame didn't matter. From deep within, Raikage's rage exploded. His chakra erupted completely, turning into dense lightning that wrapped around him like a storm of blue fire.
Now, the Fourth Raikage's full power was revealed—his muscles bulged, his hair flared upward like a Super Saiyan, and his killing intent sharpened to a blade's edge.
This was no longer a clash of pride.
It was war.
