He walked and walked, until finally he managed to get out of the forest. He was surprised by the current state of the world, which had not changed at all. Even so, he continued walking, until finally he went to a small town that looked dead, the buildings were destroyed as if there was no more life.
As he walked deeper into the city he suddenly stopped. "It seems like nothing has changed at all, or.... It's getting worse..." He muttered as he saw a vessel beating a small child. "Just when I need information, it seems like they can help me." He said happily and approached the vessel.
The vessel cruelly beat the small child, even making the child beg for mercy. "Bastard, a pest like you deserves to die, how dare a lowly creature like you steal my food!" He said angrily to the child for stealing his food.
"Excuse me, what city is this?" Yeon asked the person.
The vessel was shocked because he couldn't feel Yeon's presence, but he didn't care and responded to Yeon's question sarcastically. "What do you want, you bastard!?" He asked in an insulting tone.
A moment after the person responded to Yeon's question, he felt something strange. "W-what's going on? Why does it feel like I'm falling and spinning around?" He muttered questioningly.
The vessel's head was separated from its body, Yeon's left hand turned into a sharp knife and he used it to cut off the vessel's head. "Even though I asked nicely, it seems like people are hard to talk to these days...." He said with a bit of disappointment.
The boy was scared to see what happened, he was even more scared because Yeon approached him, the boy distanced himself from Yeon. However, Yeon calmly approached the boy and stretched out his hand, indicating that he was asking for the boy's bread, he was scared to death and without thinking he immediately handed over the bread in the hope that Yeon would forgive him. Then Yeon turned around—he used his ability to make more bread, he doubled it, then the bread was given to the child, he was surprised because the bread that was originally one suddenly became five, the child accepted it happily. Yeon also healed the child's wounds from being beaten earlier, the child was very happy and thanked Yeon sincerely, Yeon replied with a smile.
Then they walked together. "Uncle, what's your name? And why are you here?" The child asked curiously.
"Don't call me that, I'm only 22 years old. My name is Yeon, I came here because this is the only city I found along the way, that's why I chose to stop by." He answered softly. "However, I didn't expect there to be life here, I thought this was a dead city because from the outside there were many destroyed and abandoned buildings." He said.
"I see.... You're right uncle, this is the dead city of Griteul, 5 years ago this was an ordinary city but there was an unexpected dimensional crack incident that destroyed this city." He said in a sad tone.
Hearing that, Yeon was a little surprised, because it coincided with the incident 5 years ago. "Isn't there any reinforcements to save this city?" Yeon asked curiously.
"They came but the city was already destroyed, almost all the city's residents died because of the incident, including my father and mother." He answered while holding back his tears.
"Sorry .... For asking something that makes you uncomfortable...." He whispered while stroking the child's hair. "By the way, what's your name? I haven't asked you yet." Yeon asked.
"My name is Kael Lydra, I'm 7 years old." Kael answered. Then he asked, "Uncle, why are you wearing sunglasses? Is there a problem with your eyesight?"
"I told you, don't call me uncle, just call me Yeon. My eyesight is normal, there is a hidden reason why I wear these glasses, someday you will know, Kael." He answered while putting his index finger on his lips. "Oh yeah, who are you here with? Why are you alone?" Yeon asked curiously.
"I'm with my brother, he's hunting in the forest and I was told to stay to watch whether there's any trouble or not in this city. My brother is also almost the same age as you, brother Yeon, he's only 21 years old." Kael replied.
While the two of them were busy chatting, several vessels came towards them, the vessels looked at Yeon and Kael with condescending gazes. One of the men there asked Kael, "Hey kid, weren't you with Zane, where is he now? And who is this bastard!?"
"Ah, so the name of the vessel was Zane, I've killed him, his body is back there." Yeon replied with a smile without any guilt.
After hearing Yeon say that, one of the female vessels there immediately walked quickly towards the location Yeon pointed to. A few moments later, she stopped with a trembling body, her eyes wide open.
She saw Zane's body that no longer had a head. Blood was still dripping from the rough neck cut. She panicked and immediately returned to his group.
"Captain... Z-Zane... He's really dead! His head... is gone!" She shouted in a frightened voice.
The vessel squad leader took a few steps forward, staring at Yeon with anger. "You killed Zane?" He asked in a threatening tone.
Yeon just smiled. "I told you, I was just asking nicely. But it seems he's too stupid to answer."
"I don't care who you are, but how dare you kill a vessel in this city! Who the hell are you, you bastard!?" The vessel captain shouted angrily.
Yeon tilted his head slightly. The smile on his face was still there, but his eyes began to show a different aura. "I am the darkness that returned from death."
Hearing that, the vessels there became furious. "Don't be arrogant, you bastard! Kill him!" The captain ordered all his members.
Yeon looked at Kael and signaled. "Stand behind me. Don't move."
Kael nodded quickly and immediately stood behind Yeon.
Several vessels advanced, attacking with their power. Energy light, lightning sparks, and magic blasts were launched towards Yeon. But before all the attacks touched his body, they all disappeared into the air like smoke blown away by the wind.
"W-what?!" exclaimed one of the attacking vessels.
"They disappeared?!" shouted the others with wide eyes.
Yeon looked at them calmly. "That's my power. All attacks aimed at me will disappear. Become nothingness. So it's useless for you to try."
They still couldn't believe it. The captain stepped forward, his eyes blazing with full power, and immediately shot towards Yeon at high speed.
But before he could touch Yeon, his body suddenly stopped. His body was shaking violently, cold sweat began to fall from his forehead. So did all the other members of the vessel squad.
Yeon gave off a killing aura that was so strong, the pressure enveloped the entire area. The air felt oppressive, and even the ground around them cracked from the intensity of the aura. Only Kael was unaffected.
"What... happened...?"
"I... I can't move..."
"S-Shit... this pressure... this isn't human..."
One by one they began to fall. Some fell to their knees, the rest could only stand trembling.
"Die." Yeon said in a flat voice, but full of emphasis.
In an instant, all the vessels there died instantly. Their bodies collapsed without a sound, their eyes widened, and their souls disappeared like candle flames blown out by the wind.
Yeon looked back, looking at Kael. The boy was still standing safely, not feeling any pressure. Yeon nodded slightly.
"Thank goodness you're not hurt. I've placed a barrier on you, so my aura won't penetrate you."
Kael nodded slightly, though his face was still pale. He stared at the bodies of the vessels in horror, then looked at Yeon with a look mixed between awe and fear.
Yeon observed the scattered bodies. "Hmm... what should I do with them..."
Before he could make a decision, his shadow suddenly moved on its own. The shadow lengthened, curved like a black snake, then shot straight towards the bodies.
Kael screamed softly when he saw Yeon's shadow swallow the bodies of the vessels one by one. It was as if the ground was swallowing them through a dark hole that had no bottom.
After all the bodies disappeared, the shadow returned to Yeon's feet as usual. Yeon just smiled slightly seeing it.
"Don't worry, Kael. My shadow is not dangerous," Yeon said while patting Kael's head gently. "He's just hungry."
Kael looked at Yeon with eyes that were still full of confusion. But he remained silent and followed Yeon as they started walking again, leaving the place.
