Different packs had different problems. Even when most problems were rooted in hiding from humans, small packs existing within cities often drew the short end of the stick. It was next to impossible to avoid the hunters completely. That was why Messner's pack lived like rats under the floor of the old church.
A young Alpha, whose name echoed from places, had descended on their turf. The least Claude could do for them was not to alarm the hunters. If the hunters commenced a sweep, Messner's pack might get discovered.
They couldn't afford to send wolves or appear as Claude's allies. They'd better stay invisible.
Claude shook his head. "I'm not asking for a confrontation. We will make sure not to drag you into a fight. We don't want to start a fight, either. I'm not putting civilians between my claws and their guns. We both know the hunters care too little about human casualties."
