The manor's silence was both therapeutic and inducing anxiety. Verena barely heard anything from the wolves from Nettle Bay. She figured the peddlers hadn't been to the manor because they knew Len wasn't there. They never came for anyone else but him.
After a while, Verena passed the hallway he was in. The madam watched his lone figure before walking toward him. Claude noticed her and locked his phone. He could only smile at her.
"Zia asked me if Jackal lied." Verena gave a gist as if those words were enough for Claude to understand what she meant. She then sat down and crossed her legs. "She also asked if Johanne indeed ventured into the snow fields to pick flowers for Cosette. No one realized that Johanne could fight the Ghost of the Snow as if they were equals."
"Did you tell them the truth?"
