"Bastards!" Jane cried out again, squirming against the thick chains. "You threaten humans with our presence when you were the ones forcing us to walk your cities! How dare you make us the enemy!"
"Silence, beast!" Mr Melnyk picked up his long gun. He looked at the people. Most of us would bolt at first notice. "We have to be more vigilant, Hatter's Town! Some of their kind have already invaded our streets, our homes! Check the person next to you. These beasts would react against divine artifacts! If you have a rosary, don't be afraid to use it!"
Mylene looked down at her left wrist. The small rosary bracelet Dahlia had given her days ago almost glittered under the sun. She wanted to press it against Claude just to be sure. However, Claude's hand moved to hold her wrist.
Only the two of them could feel the prickling heat the thin, metal cross was making under Claude's palm. It made Mylene's eyes grow wide.
