Chapter 20 - 20. The cursing crow

Fang Shufen immediately flared up: "I'm endangering public safety? What did I do?"

The middle-aged woman blurted out some serious accusations: "This is slander! This is an abuse of power! I'm going to file a complaint against you!"

Her husband followed suit, shouting, "What public safety threat could my wife, a weak woman, possibly pose? You're bullying ordinary people!"

The patrol chief looked serious: "Ms. Fang Shufen, we have video evidence of your actions at the gate of the community, which strongly suggests inciting violence."

Fang Shufen retorted sharply: "I just shouted a few times, how is that a crime? How shameless can your patrol police station be?"

Her husband also cried out: "If shouting a few times is a crime, then all eighteen billion citizens of the Great Xia Kingdom should be jailed."

Zou Jinghui, a municipal hall official, sneered: "Have you forgotten, the Great Xia Kingdom is now in a state of emergency?"

He continued: "According to Article 136 of the Great Xia Emergency Bill, citizens must unconditionally obey the reasonable directives of the authorities.

"Guiding, instigating, or bribing others to disrupt public order is considered an act endangering public safety and should be severely punished."

Fang Shufen finally felt a bit afraid.

She suddenly realized that her usual tricks, which often worked to her advantage, not only won't work now but might get her into big trouble instead.

However, her intrinsic nature prompted Fang Shufen to continue arguing: "You..."

Zou Jinghui interrupted without hesitation: "You what?!"

He said angrily: "Linjiang City has struggled to gather some supplies for free distribution, and you shouted 'ten supplies per person' in the crowd. Did you think I didn't see that?"

Fang Shufen, unwilling to back down: "I..."

The patrol chief rudely interrupted: "Take suspect Fang Shufen away!"

"Yes!"

Two patrol officers immediately responded.

Fang Shufen began to cause a ruckus: "I'll fight you with all I've got!"

The middle-aged woman, like a madwoman, extended her sharp nails, aiming to scratch the patrol chief's face.

Her husband then shouted loudly: "The patrol is hitting people! The patrol is hitting people! Is there no justice left in the Great Xia Kingdom?"

The patrol chief quickly stepped back a few paces and ordered: "Subdue the suspects!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

Accompanied by two faint noises.

Two electrodes hit the couple, the barbs latching onto their clothes, and a high-voltage current surged into their bodies through wires.

Amidst the "zzz" sound of electric current, the couple immediately convulsed and fell to the ground without making a sound.

This was indeed the electric shock spear.

The patrol chief looked coldly at the middle-aged man and said, "Mr. Lu Yongfei, you're suspected of resisting police enforcement, and under the Great Xia Emergency Bill, you're under arrest."

Zou Jinghui spat with extreme disgust at the couple: "The Great Xia's prisons aren't for idlers. You two had better honestly go work at the construction site!"

The patrol chief waved his right hand and shouted: "Take them away!"

Four patrol officers rushed forward and dragged the couple away like dead dogs.

Zou Jinghui glanced at the two frightened children inside the house and said: "Someone will be here soon, you can choose to stay home or go to the shelter."

*

"Crunch!"

Yang Fan took another bite of an Odd Flavored Bean, listening intently to the commotion in the hallway.

Although there were two floors and a door in between, he could hear every word clearly.

"Bang! Bang!"

Yang Fan heard the sound of two people falling and couldn't help but whistle: "What good aim!"

The moment the electric shock spear fired, the Thunder Branch moved, so he naturally knew what happened.

"Take them away!"

Yang Fan heard this sentence and couldn't help but laugh: "The authorities should have done this earlier."

With a troublemaker like Fang Shufen in this community, he truly felt uncomfortable.

Now that this old woman was taken away, he felt like he could breathe more easily.

In the next half-hour.

Yang Fan, through Spirit Crow's perspective, saw residents being taken away one by one.

These people were all the ringleaders who caused trouble.

Anyone who had tried to smash the delivery trucks, regardless of age, was caught without exception.

Originally, they thought "the law wouldn't punish the masses," assuming nothing would happen, but today they hit a hard brick wall.

The authorities, using video evidence from the scene, accurately identified all troublemakers and arrested them without missing a single one.

Yang Fan clapped and praised: "Well done!"

He remembered something and glanced at his watch: "It's almost time for the meeting with Liren."

Yang Fan immediately commanded: "Black No.33, let's go!"

"Caw!"

The location of the mutated creature was in the far suburbs of Linjiang City.

Currently, only Black No.33's mind has evolved enough to share the visual experience from that place.

*

North Suburb.

Here, one cannot see towering buildings, only endless farmlands and intricately crisscrossing channels.

Half a month ago, the fields were planted with crops like rice and corn, the ground covered in greenery.

Half a month later, the earth had turned into a vast snowy plain, all crops buried under layers of snow, trenches and channels hidden by snowflakes.

It's predictable.

Having undergone a "summer turns to winter" rapid freeze, crops are undoubtedly dead, and this year's harvest is hopeless.

Liren's Linjiang City Bureau, Captain of the First Squad, Captain Gong Shicheng, gazes anxiously at the sky.

Captain Gong received news from the bureau that the mysterious Mr. Spirit Crows would send a Spirit Crow here to help search for the mutant mice.

But an hour has passed.

The Spirit Crow has still not appeared.

Captain Gong is a bit anxious: "When on earth will the Spirit Crow arrive? If delayed further, the mutant mice might escape."

His tone was somewhat unpleasant: "Even if you're a superpower user, you should at least have some concept of time."

The deputy team leader beside him whispered: "I very much doubt that just a few crows could be as miraculous as the second squad boasts."

The person pointed towards the fields and continued: "There are holes everywhere, channels beneath the snow.

"The mutant mice could hide anywhere easily, can the crows flying in the sky really find them?"

Captain Gong nodded: "I think so too."

He paused and added: "But as long as there's a slightest chance, we must try, otherwise failing to catch even a mouse would be utterly embarrassing."

No sooner had these words come out.

"Caw!"

A sudden crow call.

A group of soldiers was startled and turned towards the sound.

There stood a black crow in a corner of a farmhouse courtyard, peeking over this way.

It was none other than Black No.33.

Captain Gong was astonished: "When did this bird arrive?"

No one answered.

With over ten soldiers gathered here, not one had noticed when the crow had arrived.

"Caw!"

Black No.33 crowed again.

It flapped its wings and flew onto a small tree, overlooking the captain from above.

Captain Gong sensed a hint of disdain in the crow's eyes.

He felt a bit embarrassed but evoked that the bird represents superpower users, he held back his words.

Black No.33 flew down from the tree, its claws nimbly tapping on the snow.

A few seconds later.

A line of words appeared in the snow: "I've been here for a while; it's just none of you noticed."

Captain Gong was rather embarrassed.

He understood the conversation just now about Mr. Spirit Crows must have been heard clearly by this Spirit Crow.

The soldiers' expressions were delicate.

Black No.33 scratched out another line in the snow: "You'll know soon enough whether I can do it or not."

This was clearly a response to the deputy's previous doubts.

The atmosphere became more awkward.

The deputy wore a face of embarrassment.

Captain Gong coughed: "Thank you very much for your assistance. If convenient, please help find the mutant mice's whereabouts."

"Caw!"

Black No.33 crowed.

It flapped its wings and flew up, circling above the farmhouse.

The soldiers lifted their heads in unison, tracking the crow's flight path.

Yue Bay District.

The shared vision through the Spiritual Language Superpower allowed Yang Fan, about ten kilometers away, to clearly see the scene at the farmhouse.

With just a glance, he inexplicably had two strange intuitions.

The first — the murderer was indeed a mutant mouse.

The second — within a five-hundred-meter radius, there was no nest of the mutant mouse.

This was a feeling not present when tracking wild dogs before.

Previously, traces left by the wild dogs were needed to draw conclusions.

Now, without seeing anything, he inexplicably had conclusions.

This was truly a wondrous thing.

Yang Fan naturally realized: "This is probably also the result of sensing the Primordial Star Formation, causing the Spiritual Language Superpower mutation, bringing about a special effect."
