Chapter 8 - 8. Bomb this dog thing for me

Yang Fan discovered that the crow companions were more useful than expected.

Because he could actually share the crow's vision.

Of course.

There are limitations.

Within five hundred meters, it's quite clear, no different from seeing it with his own eyes.

Around one thousand meters, it's slightly blurry, around two thousand meters, even blurrier, faces are indistinguishable, and beyond three thousand meters, sharing is impossible.

Nevertheless, this is still a very impressive ability.

Yang Fan ordered the crows to circle around, observing the surroundings of the community through the birds' perspective.

He quickly noticed something unusual: "There used to be many people walking their dogs nearby, but now it seems like there are a lot fewer dogs."

The reason for this.

Goes without saying.

Yang Fan couldn't help but chuckle, "Dogs are man's most loyal friends!"

After a moment.

He noticed another small thing.

A luxury car drove onto the sidewalk and just stopped there, a middle-aged fat man got out, and walked away without looking back.

The sidewalk wasn't wide, and it was immediately blocked.

Pedestrians had to bypass a section of the greenbelt to get through.

For various reasons, fewer people had been driving to work lately, and many had left their cars parked, making parking spaces even more scarce.

But not finding a parking space doesn't justify parking on the sidewalk.

Yang Fan spat, "What a jerk!"

In the Yue Bay District where he lived, parking was tight, and people often parked haphazardly, causing traffic jams, so he really hated such people.

He watched the middle-aged fat man enter a convenience store, thought for a moment, and ordered, "Teach that fat guy a lesson!"

He only said "teach a lesson," without specifying what to do, apparently wanting to test the crows' intelligence.

"Caw!"

Several cawing sounds magically echoed in his mind.

Then Yang Fan witnessed the crows' performance.

*

"Squeak!"

Accompanied by a soft creak.

The convenience store door was pushed open.

The middle-aged fat man, holding a box of cigarettes, leisurely walked toward the community in front.

After walking more than ten meters, he suddenly heard a crow call from above.

"Caw!"

He was just about to look up when he caught a glimpse of something white falling from the sky, landing squarely on his shoulder.

The middle-aged fat man turned to look, his face turning slightly green.

It was a splatter of bird poop!

He cursed in frustration, "Damn it," and hurriedly began rummaging through his pockets, trying to find something to wipe off the disgusting bird poop.

The next moment.

The middle-aged fat man suddenly felt something wet hit his head and neck.

Instinctively reaching to touch his neck and bringing his hand in front of his eyes, his face turned even greener.

More bird poop!

And there were two of them!

The middle-aged fat man, in complete embarrassment, swore "Shit," and quickly turned toward the sidewalk.

He now remembered that there was a pack of tissues in the car.

A dozen seconds later.

The middle-aged fat man reached his car.

He immediately saw three crows standing on the hood, occasionally walking around, making "zzzz" sharp sounds.

The middle-aged fat man waved his poop-stained hand and shouted angrily, "Get the hell out!"

The three crows, startled, spread their wings and flew up.

But they didn't fly far, instead landing on a nearby tree.

Looking at the hood, the middle-aged fat man's elderly face twitched fiercely.

The hood was covered with white scratches, at least twenty of them, contrasting sharply with the black paint.

He knew this was undoubtedly caused by the crows.

The crows' claws were so sharp, making such marks required little effort.

Extremely annoyed, a thought suddenly popped into his mind: "Call the police?"

He shook his head, dismissing the ridiculous idea.

Because the patrol police at the Patrol Police Station wouldn't arrest the crows; they'd only advise him to file an insurance claim.

"Caw! Caw!"

The cawing came again.

Seemingly mocking him.

His anger rising, the middle-aged fat man picked up a stone from the roadside and hurled it fiercely at a crow.

Unfortunately.

The stone missed.

The crow, being quite clever, had already flown away.

With no outlet for his pent-up rage, the middle-aged fat man begrudgingly opened the car door, hastily wiped off the bird poop, and started the car to leave.

There was no other choice.

Reeking of bird poop, he could only go home to take a bath first.

Yue Bay District.

Yang Fan, with an expression of surprise, commented: "The coordination of the crows is quite impressive."

He thought of more potential applications: "In the future, when searching for Curiosities, I can rely on the crow companions without having to spend days flipping over the wild lands."

With the efficiency of six crows, an entire hillside could be scoured in a day.

As for himself, he only needed to relax comfortably.

Rubbing his forehead, Yang Fan decided to take a break.

Because having tamed so many companions had drained his Spiritual Power.

At seven p.m. on the dot.

The Great Xia Political Council's major press conference started on time.

Although electricity hadn't been restored in Yue Bay District and its surroundings, it didn't affect the residents' ability to watch the conference.

The official broadcast was played over the radio, which anyone could access using their phone's built-in radio or by downloading an app to listen to the conference.

Yang Fan sat on the sofa, eyes unblinking as he watched the speaker on the TV screen.

He had the Curiosity Thunder Branch to power his devices, so he could watch TV even when the power was out.

This press conference used a public TV broadcast channel, allowing it to be watched smoothly without the need for the internet.

He had a hunch that the country would unveil some things at the conference, which is why he turned on the TV.

"Today, as I stand at the podium, my feelings are quite complex because Great Xia is about to enter a historic moment."

Several figures sat upright, each looking very solemn.

They were the spokespersons.

"As you all know, for the past six months or so, disasters have been occurring frequently worldwide, and the entire Canglan Star is facing a severe crisis."

"In response to this comprehensive crisis and to protect the life and property safety of all citizens of Great Xia, I hereby announce that the Great Xia Kingdom will officially enter a state of emergency starting immediately."

Yang Fan murmured, "As expected!"

He had anticipated this.

But the next sentence took him by surprise.

"Effective immediately, the Great Xia Emergency Bill will also officially come into effect, with the initial implementation period tentatively set at thirty years!"

Yang Fan was taken aback, "Why thirty years?"

In the living room upstairs.

A middle-aged couple in their fifties, along with their son in his twenties, were listening to the sound coming from the phone's radio.

"...tentatively set at thirty years!"

The family of three exclaimed upon hearing "thirty years."

"That long?"

"Is it really necessary for that long?"

The family looked at each other, bewildered.

Downstairs.

The question that puzzled ordinary people, Yang Fan quickly guessed the answer: "Perhaps Canglan Star hasn't truly descended upon the Primordial World, and the whole process will continue for thirty years."

He was a bit startled, "This process is likely fraught with danger, otherwise the Great Xia Kingdom wouldn't make such decisions."

He quickly came to another conclusion, "My judgment was right, the Great Xia Kingdom indeed has sources of information, with some understanding of the Primordial World."

"Next, I will briefly introduce the clauses of the Great Xia Emergency Bill.

"First, the Great Xia Kingdom will initiate a massive conscription.

"Second, the Great Xia Kingdom will establish an engineering corps, recruiting engineers."

Yang Fan was taken aback, "So many?"

He then realized, "With the current chaotic situation and so many unemployed people, it might as well recruit them into the army and engineering corps."

"Third, starting next month, all material supplies in the Great Xia Kingdom will be fully transitioned to a rationing system."

Yang Fan was immensely relieved, "Thankfully, I stocked up on so many supplies in advance, otherwise, even with money, I couldn't buy them."

In the living room upstairs.

The middle-aged couple immediately began blaming each other when they heard "rationing system."

"I told you two days ago to buy some grains at the underground market, but you thought it was too expensive. Now you see, you can't buy it even if you want to!"

"Great Xia Kingdom won't let us starve!"

"Not starving is true, but if you want to eat more, forget about it!"

Their young son intervened to mediate, "Mom, Dad, stop arguing, the conference isn't over yet."

"Fourth, the Great Xia Kingdom..."
