Chapter 32 - Chapter 25: Not the End

The thrusting sword darted like a snake, swift and lethal, its blade slicing through the air, erupting with a sharp whistle.

It was hard to imagine such power emanating from that body, and this time his target was Eve, aiming to retrieve his Lucky Coin.

Illusions were interfering with Lorenzo, and for a moment, he couldn't keep up with Sabo, while the girl just watched as Sabo approached, then raised the revolver in her hand.

That revolver, known as the Funeral Bell, twisted the world in Eve's eyes, yet that didn't mean she would wait helplessly.

She pulled the trigger, and yet the expected deathly toll of the Funeral Bell never rang.

Eve paused briefly, then suddenly realized everything. She really wanted to curse Lorenzo out loud; this man was truly a scoundrel. From the beginning, this revolver only had five bullets, just like the time at Phoenix Manor when he took advantage of people's "common sense."

That's why he was so confident, because this bastard knew all along that there were no bullets in the cylinder. What kind of gambler was he? It was all his trickery.

The sharp thrusting sword was upon her in an instant, lightly grazing Eve's cheek with a whistle. The Goddess of Fortune showed no favoritism, and now Sabo's attack also failed to hit due to blood loss and hallucination. Then the sharp staff sword pierced through his body, bursting out from his chest like an execution spear, pinning Sabo dead to the ground.

"Eve! Don't just stand there!"

Lorenzo seemed unwilling to explain his lousy trick, instead he shouted loudly.

Eve didn't understand Lorenzo's actions, but then she heard it, the sounds coming from all directions.

They were frantic footsteps, stomping on stone bricks with a dull roar, accompanied by the whispered moans of the Celestial Kingdom filling her ears.

She looked at the fallen crowd below the high platform; they eerily stood up, twisting in ways humans absolutely couldn't, their eyes an unsettling all-white, shambling like the living dead.

"Is it an illusion...?"

Eve's heart, which had just strengthened, nearly collapsed again. Under the influence of the hallucinogen, she could hardly distinguish between illusion and reality.

"I don't know, I just know we need to leave."

Lorenzo bit down on a cigarette and inhaled forcefully, the awakening herbs taking effect, clearing his vision.

"Then... this person... Lorenzo!"

Eve initially wanted to know how to handle Sabo, since there weren't many leads obtained yet. But just as her gaze shifted to Sabo, the body that was supposed to be dead moved again.

It was no longer mortal life force, this was a bizarre scene from a strange legend, as he grabbed the sword blade, slowly lifting himself from the ground, blood had run dry, only the pale skeleton visible through the ruptured wound, no cries of pain, only muffled laughter.

"Death... is not the end."

Suddenly recalling what Sabo had said earlier, Lorenzo whispered.

"It's the coin!"

Eve clearly discovered something, exclaiming.

Sabo's eerie body slowly stood up, holding his Lucky Coin in his broken hand, then that sinister iron face slowly cracked open, the dark mouth directly swallowed the coin and hand together, chaotic fangs tearing at blood and bone, emitting a chilling sound.

"Is... it an illusion?"

The girl tightly gripped the sword and gun, on the edge of madness, it was the only way she could keep herself calm.

"That's not important."

Lorenzo said coldly.

It was an eerie stalemate, but suddenly, even more thunderous sounds echoed, shaking the entire hall as they rang out, the luxurious chandeliers swayed violently, the crystal structure clashing, producing crisp ringings, followed by an endless shower of dust.

It felt like a giant was stomping on the ground, but then the noises kept erupting successively, it was only now that Eve realized they were clearly the sounds of shells exploding.

What was happening on the surface?

But before she could think, with the intense shaking, the lights in the hall flickered, and in that flash, Sabo's twisted body bizarrely disappeared.

Perhaps having faced such bizarre stimulation so much, Eve forced herself to calm down.

"He's gone."

"I know."

Lorenzo's voice was very calm, at this moment this great detective possessed an inexplicable feeling, he was intensely focused on the spot where Sabo had vanished, lost in thought.

But after this, an endless sound of footsteps rose again, unknowingly the dance floor was filled with guardians wielding firearms, every one of them was driven to extreme frenzy under the influence of the hallucinogen.

It was the lift, this was once the arena, it was where the gladiators prepared underground beneath the dance floor, which was the arena, and when cheers erupted, they emerged from the underground lift, all those guards were hiding beneath it.

One wave after another, gunfire erratically showered bullets onto the high ground.

Seizing a shotgun, he fired at the painted glass behind, the glass shattered and scattered, revealing a small room behind it, just as Lorenzo suspected, earlier Sabo had been here observing him.

He took Eve and flipped inside, the room filled with a strange feeling.

"Eve, hold this place, we've taken the high ground and they can't get up for now."

Throwing his Winchester over directly, Lorenzo strode into the room.
