"Yes… yesterday was amazing. I guess," Haruno muttered under his breath, savoring another bite of his lunch. Just like before, he was enjoying a neatly prepared bento from Yui—beautifully arranged, delicious, and made with a touch of love.
Still, his mind wasn't entirely on the food. His thoughts drifted back to the steamy bath scene from the day before, and even now, the memory was vivid enough to threaten another nosebleed. He could still feel the soft warmth of Ryouko's and Lala's bodies under his fingers as he washed and massaged their backs. Every detail—their smooth skin, their subtle reactions, even the way the water glistened on their curves—was seared into his memory.
Ryouko, in particular, had been a teasing menace. Whether it was because she enjoyed the massage or simply liked watching him squirm, her occasional sultry sighs had nearly made his brain short-circuit. Her slim waist and shapely hips had left him breathless.
Then came Lala, not wanting to be left behind. With her usual cheerfulness, she eagerly requested the same treatment—and who was Haruno to refuse? Before he knew it, he was once again massaging a bare back, this time Lala's, as she let out pleased little moans that were far too stimulating for his sanity. He had no formal experience with massages, but judging from their reactions, he was either naturally talented or just very, very lucky.
"I wish we could do that… every day, right? Yui?" Lala whispered playfully, nudging Haruno while munching on her bento. "This is super delicious, by the way! As always!"
Yui, across the table, blushed furiously. "E-Every day is a bit much… maybe just… sometimes…" she mumbled, eyes darting away as if trying to avoid remembering what she'd witnessed.
"Eh? But you haven't gotten the same treatment yet," Lala added with an impish grin.
Yui's face turned an even deeper shade of red. After all, unlike the others, she had only watched that steamy scene unfold—yet her imagination had clearly filled in the gaps.
"It's fine… really…" Yui responded softly, her voice tinged with shyness as she looked down at her lap. Her face was still flushed from Lala's teasing, but Haruno could tell—something was weighing on her.
Haruno, however, couldn't shake the strange feeling he'd been having. The bath incident from yesterday still replayed vividly in his mind—not just because of the obvious reasons, but because of how naturally he'd known where to massage them. It wasn't just dumb luck. It was like his hands instinctively knew where to press, which muscles to soothe, and how to draw out those blissful reactions.
He frowned thoughtfully. If I remember right, Rentarou had all sorts of ridiculous abilities related to love… so maybe, just maybe, I've inherited something similar? He recalled that among Rentarou's one hundred girlfriends, at least one was a master of massage therapy, and another was a scientist genius. Together, they could practically heal someone back from the brink of grave injury with just a touch and some homemade drug.
As he glanced at Yui, who was still visibly tense, he noticed it again—that strange intuition. His gaze locked onto her shoulder, and it was as if a glowing map appeared in his mind, highlighting the perfect pressure point.
"Well… don't worry. Just let me massage your shoulder a little," Haruno said gently after finishing his lunch.
"Eh? Y-You don't have to—"
"It's okay. You've been studying so hard lately. Just relax for a second," he replied, already placing his hand gently on her shoulder.
The moment he applied just the right amount of pressure—
"Ahhh~~ Th-that's the spot~~~" Yui moaned softly, her body slumping forward in bliss. The tone of voice she let out was so unlike her usual reserved self that even Lala did a double take.
So it's true, Haruno thought, I really do have some kind of massage-based love ability… but what's it really for?
After school, while Haruno and the girls were settling into their newly assigned club room, his phone buzzed with a message from Ryouko. As the school's health officer, her messages were usually routine—but this one wasn't.
[Ryouko: Haruna is in the infirmary—she's injured.]
The moment he read it, a strange chill ran down his spine. The timing felt too precise, too scripted—especially after what he'd just realized about his newfound ability. Haruno blinked. That timing… felt too perfect to be a coincidence.
Haruno couldn't ignore the tug in his chest as he stepped into the infirmary. Seeing Haruna sitting on the bed with a bandaged ankle, dressed in her tennis uniform, made his heart ache. The injury wasn't severe—just a mild sprain, perhaps—but the thought of one of his soulmates being hurt made his emotions swirl in unfamiliar ways. A blend of protectiveness and guilt washed over him, like he had somehow failed her without even knowing how.
"Haruno!?" Haruna blinked in surprise at his sudden appearance.
"I heard you were hurt, so I came right away. I was worried," he said, his voice laced with genuine concern as he approached her.
Haruna's cheeks turned slightly pink, and though her words were few, her soft smile betrayed how happy she was to see him. "Is that so…?"
Kneeling beside her, Haruno gently held her leg, inspecting the injury with uncharacteristic seriousness. His fingertips brushed just below the bandage, and in that moment, a strange sensation passed through him—information, feelings, and an odd certainty that told him exactly how to help. Another effect of his mysterious ability, no doubt.
"I didn't expect you to be the clumsy type," Haruno said, trying to lighten the mood while still scanning her leg.
Haruna fumbled for an answer. "Well… it's nothing big." She couldn't possibly admit that her lack of sleep, caused by overexcitement about today's after-school date—and obsessing over the new hair accessory she now wore—had made her less coordinated during practice.
Just then, Ryouko entered with her usual teasing smile. "I've already treated it a bit, but I think it'll heal better with this ointment. I made it myself," she said, handing Haruno a small jar. Her knowing glance at Haruna made the girl flinch slightly. "I'll leave it to you, Haruno-kun."
As Ryouko exited, Haruno looked down at the ointment, then up at Haruna. "So, do you want to try it?"
Haruna hesitated, then nodded—just once—before quietly lifting her leg toward him.
"Well, I guess it can't hurt to try…" Haruna murmured, her voice soft but steady. She didn't resist as Haruno gently removed the bandage from her ankle. The skin underneath looked a little swollen, but nothing too serious. Still, the tenderness in his touch made her heart skip. He applied the balm slowly, carefully spreading it before beginning to massage the surrounding muscle and tendons.
Haruno's hands moved with an uncanny precision—as if he instinctively knew exactly where to press. With each pass, the discomfort in her ankle faded, replaced by an odd sense of warmth and relief. "Are you hurt?" he asked gently.
"No… this is… quite amazing…" Haruna replied, her voice trembling just slightly. A faint twinge remained, but it was overwhelmed by the strange comfort radiating from his touch. It was like the balm and his hands worked in perfect harmony.
"Well, thank goodness it's effective," Haruno said, looking up—only to find Haruna's eyes locked onto him. Their faces were close, much too close for either of them to ignore.
Haruna's heartbeat surged. She could see every detail of his expression—the gentle concern, the faint blush on his cheeks, and that gaze that lately seemed to be only for her. And as Haruno looked back at her, his chest tightened at the sight of the hairpin she wore—the very one he had picked out for her. Just that one detail filled him with emotion he could no longer suppress.
"That hairpin… it really looks good on you," he said, his voice a little more raw than he intended.
Haruna smiled, bashfully turning her gaze away for a moment. "I like it very much."
"And… seeing you hurt like this makes me sad."
"So you were worried about me?" she asked softly.
"Yeah. Of course I was."
Haruna's smile faltered for a second, replaced by a deeper emotion. "Why are you being so kind to me like this…?" she whispered, her eyes searching his for something she couldn't quite name—but desperately wanted to find.
"Well… I know it might sound selfish," Haruno began, his voice quiet but unwavering, "but I've already told you what I felt when I met all of my fiancées. That warmth, that spark—like the world suddenly became brighter. A once-in-a-lifetime kind of connection. And… I felt it again the moment I first saw you. So, I want to say it clearly—Haruna, I love you. I want you to be my girlfriend… with marriage in mind."
Haruna blinked, taken aback by his sincerity. Her heart trembled as she met his gaze, seeing not even a trace of doubt in his eyes. "Is that so…?" she murmured. "So you felt the same thing when you saw me? Like a jolt of soft electricity running through your body, your heart racing, and suddenly… everything in the world just seems beautiful?"
Haruno gave a small, heartfelt nod. "Yeah… exactly that. At first, I hesitated, wondering if it was right to feel this way again. But I've come to accept it. I won't deny my feelings. I may already have three fiancées, but I swear—I'll do my best to make you one of the happiest women in the universe."
He reached out and gently took her hand in his, holding it with care. Haruna's breath caught in her throat, her cheeks dusted pink as her fingers curled slightly around his.
"In that case," she said, voice trembling just a little, "then take care of me… and please, don't let me fall behind the others."
With that, Haruna closed her eyes, leaning in ever so slightly. Haruno understood immediately. He leaned forward and pressed his lips softly to hers—a gentle, simple kiss filled with pure affection. It wasn't fiery or wild. It was warm, honest… and undeniably full of love.
Haruna's lips curled into a quiet smile as she returned the kiss. Her small hand clutched his hand tighter, not wanting to let go of the moment—or the boy who had just made her heart feel complete.
