The real version of Lucius. The one who could look me in the eyes and lie. The one who could make me believe that Salem was safe, that he was trying to bring him back, all while knowing full well he had taken him from me.
I closed my eyes tightly, forcing back the tears. I wouldn't cry for him. Not for the man who had broken me like this. Not for the man who had caused this pain in my soul.
I had given him everything—my trust, my heart, my love—and he had crushed it all. He had taken my Salem from me and replaced him with nothing but lies and emptiness.
I could feel my legs shaking, my body trembling with the weight of it all. I wanted to run. I wanted to escape from the painful truth, but it was impossible. There was nowhere to hide from what I had learned, nowhere to run from the reality that Lucius had deceived me. He had broken me.
