## Chapter 13: Transplanting
The day after settling the Talonflame and Fletchinder, Bai Feng planned to transplant the fruit trees to Fangxing Mountain.
However, before transplanting, he went to find two Diggersby. One was the one Bai Feng had hired before, and the other was the one that had planted an Oran Berry Tree.
These two Diggersby, a male and a female, had gotten together at some point and were now a couple. It wasn't surprising, though, as the number of wild Pokémon in the human residential area of the East District was very small, only a few. If they didn't pair up with each other, they would likely be alone their whole lives.
When Bai Feng found them, the two were sleeping soundly under the Oran Berry Tree, practically drooling, probably having sweet dreams.
Just as Bai Feng was about to go wake them up, a small head suddenly popped out from behind the female Diggersby (the one Bai Feng had hired). It was a small Bunnelby, likely just born not long ago, looking very cute.
Wow, they've already had a kid! Bai Feng was surprised.
The Bunnelby stared at Bai Feng curiously for a few seconds, then started calling for its parents.
"Hobi~hobi~" Mama! Papa!
The two Diggersby thought they were being ambushed by an enemy, so they sat up abruptly, looking left and right.
"Hoder? Hoder?" What happened?
"Hoder?" Who? Who?
The two were dazed for a while before they noticed Bai Feng.
"Hoder~" Oh, it's you.
Seeing that the visitor was Bai Feng, an old acquaintance, the two Diggersby returned to their lazy state, leaning back to back and drooping their eyelids.
"Cheer up, I came today because I need your help with something!" Bai Feng said.
Hearing this, the female Diggersby immediately perked up. It suddenly sat up straight and asked in surprise, "Hoder~" Is there Rejuvenation?
"Yes!" Bai Feng promised.
"Hoder~" Then there's no problem.
The female Diggersby agreed immediately, not even asking what Bai Feng needed its help for.
The male Diggersby had heard about Rejuvenation from his wife a long time ago, but he had never experienced it and had been looking forward to it. Now that he saw his wife had agreed, he quickly agreed as well.
At this moment, the female Diggersby pushed their little one forward, pointing at it and saying to Bai Feng, "Count my little one in too, it can also help."
The female Diggersby had personally experienced the various benefits of Rejuvenation, so it naturally didn't forget to plan for its own little one.
Bai Feng nodded. One more won't hurt, they're all extra help.
"Okay, then come with me."
Bai Feng took the two Diggersby and one Bunnelby back to the Orphanage, then began to instruct them to dig the fruit trees out of the ground.
Diggersby are good at digging holes and work very efficiently. Before long, they had dug out over thirty fruit trees from the ground without any damage, completely eliminating the need for Bai Feng and Bai Ye to do anything.
Bai Ye only needed to use Psychic to move the dug-up fruit trees to the side, where Popplio would sprinkle water on them to keep them hydrated. Then, the Fletchinder, in pairs, would hoist the fruit trees with ropes and transport them to Fangxing Mountain.
Bai Feng's fruit trees had only grown for less than two years and hadn't grown very tall, so the Fletchinder didn't require much effort to transport them.
The entire process proceeded smoothly. Bai Feng only needed to be responsible for directing, and didn't need to do anything else.
Now that the fruit on the fruit trees had all been picked, it was a good time for transplanting.
Moreover, Biyi City's location is special, being close to the ocean and warmed by monsoon winds year-round, making it feel like spring all year. So, Bai Feng didn't need to worry about the season when transplanting the fruit trees.
After the fruit trees were all dug up, Bai Feng had the Diggersby level the plot of land again, and then took everyone to Fangxing Mountain.
The rest was the planting of the fruit trees.
Before planting the fruit trees in the ground, Bai Feng had the Diggersby turn over all the land they had cleared before, and then had the Talonflame and Fletchinder use fire to bake the soil.
High temperatures can sterilize, disinfect, and prevent parasites hidden in the soil.
After doing this, Bai Feng and Bai Ye began to spread fertilizer on the ground.
This fertilizer was all homemade by Bai Feng and Bai Ye together. The method came from a book in Old Man Fu's Study. He had tried it before, but only made small batches, never this much at once.
When Bai Feng and Bai Ye were clearing the trees and weeds on the mountain, they would collect them together, then dig several large pits and put the dead branches and fallen leaves into the pits in batches. (The wood from the main trunks was used to build dormitories for the Talonflame and Fletchinder.)
Next, Bai Feng went to the market and bought a special fertilizer for composting, sprinkled it into the dead branches and fallen leaves, mixing it evenly with them, and then filled in a large amount of humus into the pits, covering up all the dead branches and fallen leaves.
Humus was easy to find on the mountain, so Bai Feng and the others didn't need to specially prepare it.
After a period of high-temperature fermentation, the fertilizer was ready!
However, Bai Feng didn't use all the fertilizer this time, only a portion. Because he made a lot at once, he would need it later when planting other fruit trees, otherwise, making it on the spot would be too late.
It took a full half-day for Bai Feng and the others to finish applying the fertilizer. Compared to this process, planting the trees didn't take much time at all.
As long as the pits were dug, Bai Ye would use Psychic to put the trees into the pits, and then Bai Feng and the Diggersby would fill in the soil. Soon, all over thirty trees were planted.
Bai Feng entirely handed over the watering to Popplio. Anyway, it was currently the time it needed to practice using its moves. If it didn't water well once, it could water several more times.
Popplio was very dedicated to practicing its moves and wasn't impatient at all when watering. It completed the task excellently and received high praise from Bai Feng.
By the time everything was finished, it was almost dark, and Bai Feng felt utterly exhausted.
Despite his exhaustion, he gave the two Diggersby and one Bunnelby Rejuvenation, almost collapsing from exhaustion on the mountain. In the end, a Talonflame carried him back to the Orphanage.
After arriving home, Director Meili saw Bai Feng's face full of fatigue and said, "I'll go help you tomorrow too."
The children heard this and shouted one after another, "I'll go too, I'll go too."
Bai Feng quickly explained, "Today was a special situation. The fruit trees are already planted, so it won't be this tiring in the future."
Director Meili usually had to take care of the children and also wash clothes and cook for everyone, so she was already very tired. Bai Feng couldn't trouble her any further. The children were also young and really not suitable to go out and work for him.
"That's good," Director Meili nodded upon hearing this, then added, "You're still young, don't get too tired. If you need my help with anything, just say so."
Bai Feng nodded and said, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Besides, I wasn't working alone." He told Director Meili about hiring the Diggersby and Bunnelby, and only then did she stop mentioning helping out.
At this moment, Bai Feng suddenly noticed that Brother Dong Yu wasn't there, and asked doubtfully, "Where's Brother Dong Yu? Why isn't he back so late?" He doesn't have school today either.
Yangtai heard this and said, "Brother Dong Yu has been leaving early and coming back late recently. We don't know what he's busy with, he's always not home."
During this period, Bai Feng had been busy with the matters on Fangxing Mountain and had hardly interacted with everyone, so he didn't notice Dongyu leaving early and coming back late.
As soon as Yangtai finished speaking, they heard Xiao You shout loudly, "Brother Dong Yu, you're back!"
Everyone looked back and, sure enough, saw Dongyu walk into the yard.
During dinner, Dongyu asked Bai Feng, "Bai Feng, weren't you transplanting fruit trees today? How did it go?"
Bai Feng nodded and said, "Very smoothly, the fruit trees are all planted."
"That's good," Dongyu nodded, then said with an apologetic look, "Originally, I should have gone to help you, but I've had some urgent matters to attend to recently, so I haven't been able to get around to it. I'm sorry..."
Bai Feng shook his head indifferently and said, "It's okay, just focus on your own business. I can handle it myself."
"Brother Dong Yu, what are you busy with? We hardly see you lately," Xiao You said with a pout.
Dongyu heard this and patted his head. "Children shouldn't ask so many questions."
"I'm not a child!" Xiao You muttered, then shoveled rice into his mouth. "Cough, cough, cough..." and then choked.
Director Meili quickly handed him a glass of water and, while patting his back, scolded, "Don't eat so fast. Do you understand chewing slowly and thoroughly?"
Seeing that Dongyu didn't really want to talk about it, they didn't press further.
When he woke up the next morning, Bai Feng only felt sore all over.
"Damn, how long has it been since I felt like this! Farming is really not easy."
Struggling to get out of bed, Bai Feng felt like he was crippled, only able to walk with a limp.
Seeing Bai Feng's funny walking posture, Yangtai pointed at him and laughed heartily, "Hahaha, Brother Bai Feng, you walk like a Krabby!"
Bai Feng: [ヘ?]
At this moment, Bai Ye appeared behind Yangtai at some point, glaring at him with a sinister look.
"Why is it a bit cold?" Yangtai shivered. He looked back and just happened to meet Bai Ye's chilly gaze.
"Gardevoir~" Who did you say walks like a Krabby?
Although he didn't understand what Bai Ye was saying, Yangtai acutely sensed danger. Grabbing his school bag, he ran away in a flash, shouting as he ran:
"Brother Bai Feng, I'm going to school first! You go with Caicaizi."
Bai Ye huffed in dissatisfaction, "Good thing you ran. How dare you say my darling walks like a Krabby? Is there a Krabby that cute?"
After speaking, it quickly looked at Bai Feng and asked with a concerned look, "Darling, are you okay?"
Bai Feng waved his hand and said, "Just overexertion. A little rest and I'll be fine."
After breakfast, Bai Feng asked Caicaizi to ask for leave from school for him. He didn't plan to go to school today.
A portion of Fangxing Mountain had been partially cleared. After planting the original fruit trees, there was still a large plot of land empty, so Bai Feng planned to buy some new saplings to plant.
He didn't plan to use seeds to grow saplings anymore. Not only did it waste time, but some Berry seeds couldn't grow into saplings.
Before, he only picked fruit and peeled seeds because he had no money. Now he has money, so there's really no need to waste time anymore.
After recalling Bai Ye into its Poké Ball, Bai Feng went out holding Popplio. Where he was going today was a Plantation in the East District, where various saplings are cultivated and sold.
This is just a budget Plantation. The saplings sold there are all very ordinary, and the fruit grown from them can only be sent to places like the Vegetable Market.
But Bai Feng didn't care. He could slowly cultivate the fruit tree's energy level himself. Anyway, he neither had the purchase channels nor the sufficient financial resources to buy high energy level fruit trees.
High energy level fruit trees generally aren't saplings, but mature trees.
A fruit tree's energy level is related to the energy rating of the fruit it can produce. A fruit tree that can produce Grade B fruit is a Grade B energy level fruit tree, and one that can produce Grade A fruit is a Grade A fruit tree.
But the energy level of saplings is generally only between F and C, because only the longer they are cultivated, the more energy the fruit tree will contain, and the higher the energy rating of the fruit it produces will be.
Therefore, Planters rarely sell their years of hard work. They only sell fruit, and they don't sell to ordinary people.
It's just that high-level Planters are rare. Most people might not be able to cultivate a fruit tree from one energy level to the next even after spending ten years or so.
