Chapter 69 - the invitation_69

Selene's POV

The sunlight filtered through the blinds in quiet stripes as I leaned back against Antonio's couch, sipping the last of my tea. Ayra was curled up by the window, flipping through one of Mira's photography books, while Amara sat cross-legged on the floor, quietly sketching something on her tablet.

The doorbell rang.

Antonio, still half-damp from his post-run shower, walked over, ruffling his towel-dried hair. He opened the door—and there she was.

Luna.

Graceful as ever, in a soft coral dress with her hair tied in a satin bow, holding an envelope the color of moonlight. Her eyes met mine, and for a second, the air felt suspended in time.

"I come bearing news," she said with a soft smile.

She stepped in, hugging Ayra first, exchanging pleasantries with Mira and Amara, then finally turned toward me.

"Selene…" she began, holding out the envelope. "This is for you. For both of you." She glanced at Antonio and smiled warmly. "I'm getting married. In August. And I can't imagine doing it without the two of you there."

A silence fell for a moment.

She continued, her voice more heartfelt. "You two have become something steady and beautiful. I know our past is layered and twisted in places, but I want the people who've mattered most to witness the new chapter of my life too."

Antonio stepped closer, taking the envelope gently from her hand, giving her a nod. "Of course we'll come."

I opened the flap, fingers brushing the edges of thick ivory cardstock, the details scrolled in gold foil. Luna & Aarav. A coastal wedding in Goa—sunset vows, floral canopies, and three days of celebration.

I glanced at her, unsure what emotion bubbled inside me—gratitude, nostalgia, joy. Maybe all of it.

"I'm really happy for you," I said, and I meant it.

"And it wouldn't just be you two. Your families too," Luna added. "I want it to be warm. Whole. No gaps."

Ayra grinned. "Does this mean we get beachside dresses and sangeet rehearsals?"

Luna laughed, eyes twinkling. "Absolutely."

As Antonio wrapped an arm around my waist and pressed a kiss to my temple, I realized… this wasn't just an invitation to a wedding.

It was a closing of old wounds. A celebration of how far we'd come. A reunion of souls who once drifted but now found their way back—each with a new love, a stronger story, and the courage to witness each other bloom again.
