"She left this mansion because you told her to, and she didn't run away; she was following your instructions. It was because your family deemed her existence inconvenient the moment Shen Li returned and you quickly wanted Shen Li to take over her position and didn't bother with Shen Ruyi, you only treated her as a dispensable garbage. She left because the children she raised spat venom at her feet, calling her evil… worthless… all because you filled their heads with lies, you are the ones I blame for all these! You are the ones at fault! How dare you use her death to play emotionally here?"
"Even in her death, you want to use her for your benefit! Can't she really rest in peace?"
"When did you last visit her grave and pray for her? When did you last sweep her tomb in the last six years?"
"You have got some nerve to blame me for your wrongdoings!"
Mrs Shen shook her head violently, tears streaming down her lined cheeks, her daughter was dead and hadn't gotten any closure until now, she didn't know if it was an accident or an intentional incident, "No… no… that's not true… we… we only wanted her to reflect back at home… she was too cruel, she pushed Shen Li....."
"She didn't push her...." His voice cracked like a whip, stopping her mid-sentence, looking at him horrified. What did he mean by that? "I watched the footage from that day. She never even touched Shen Li; all she ever did was pull away from her harsh grip. It's even too late to exert justice for her!"
He stepped closer, his dark eyes gleaming with quiet, lethal fury, "And yet with your impartiality you had heavily slapped her back then, you called her a jinx with your own mouth. You told her to get out of this house, to never show her face again. You.... You are the ones who kicked her out after she was deemed not useful! You are her murderer, and you are the ones responsible for her death.."
Mr Shen's mouth fell open, his complexion turning ashen.
Li Feng leaned down slightly, his voice lowering to a whisper so cold that it could freeze their blood veins, "She had called me that previous night, you know. She had been crying so hard and I had even forgotten it was her birthday that day. I failed her in every other way possible! She just wanted to celebrate her birthday but I couldn't even give her that! I'm already this guilty, but you, as her parents, you won't be pardoned!"
His fingers curled into tight fists by his side, "And do you know what I said to her when she had called me that night? 'Not to disturb me if she doesn't have anything important to say! What about the two of you? Did you even remember to call her? Did you even remember to come over and spend the evening and night with her? Do you even recall when it's her birthday?"
Neither of them could answer through their sobs.
"I failed her big time but you two are no saints!"
He straightened up, staring down at them with a gaze so hollow that it made Mrs Shen wail louder.
"Remember how I told her she should go back to you because this family didn't need her anymore that very morning, and you all agreed!"
Mr Shen collapsed into the nearby chair, clutching his chest as tears fell down his lined cheeks.
