"How dare you!" Mrs Shen shrieked, her chest heaving with sobs, "Do you think your money and your power can make you better than everyone else?! She is your wife, for God's sake! The mother of your children! You owe her everything! Do you hear me? You owe everything...."
Li Feng rose slowly to his feet, towering over them with quiet, lethal authority. His eyes had already darkened, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
"I owe her nothing. She does owe me...."
Mr Shen's face turned red with fury, and he felt like Li Feng didn't respect them at all... "If anything happens to her again… if she ever tries this again… we will go to the media. We will destroy your reputation and this empire you cling to so tightly. We will go down together...."
Li Feng tilted his head slightly, a faint smirk playing at his lips as his gaze burned into Mr Shen's furious eyes.
"Then... you can do it."
"Try it....."
The silence that followed was deafening.
He was already tired of being threatened all the time, it was exhausting dealing with them...
"I have survived worse scandals than your daughter's theatrics," he continued calmly, "And if you think for a second that blackmail will make me crawl back to her feet, then you do not know me at all. I will tell you just this once, she better behave and be a good mother to her kids, she better retire from her career and take care of the situation at home...."
Mrs Shen sobbed loudly at his cold words, collapsing onto the nearest chair. Mr Shen clenched his fists, trembling with impotent rage as Li Feng sat back down, dismissing them with a flick of his gaze.
"Leave. I have work to finish."
But before they turned to go, he spoke once more, his voice colder than ice.
"Tell your daughter this is her last chance. If she ever pulls something like this again… I will not hesitate to send her back to you. Permanently."
"And if you don't agree to it, I will send her to the mental hospital, she does need it!"
"How dare you say that? You have already robbed us of our daughter Shen Ruyi, do you want to take another one to the grave? How can you be this cruel?" Mr Shen was angered, his chest heaved up and down heavily.
"Robbed? How dare you accuse me of her death? If it weren't for you slapping her that very morning and forcing her to move back to your house, would this have happened? Could she have died in that car fire? Who gave you the guts to?"
"It's all your fault! It was your cruelty that pushed her to run away like that! Why would she die at the parking lot instead of driving back home, because that parking lot where they found her burnt car isn't the route back home! She couldn't have died like that!" Mrs Shen cried hysterically.
Li Feng's gaze remained as cold as glacial steel, unshaken by Mrs Shen's hysterical sobs.
"Run away?" His low chuckle was devoid of amusement, echoing darkly through the silent study room, "You think she ran away from me and not from you? Why do you want to act like you are saints? You deep down know it!"
"How did you treat her all those years? Why do you think I was the one she was running away from?"
"You are her parents but you never cared about her life and death! You never loved her!"
He rose slowly to his feet, walking around his massive mahogany desk until he stood towering before them, his shadow casting over their trembling figures.
