Chapter 220 - Mage Knight System!?

Chapter 220 - Mage Knight System!?

As the system's voice echoed in his mind, a new scene materialized before Roy's eyes.

[Dimensional travel successful. Arriving in a new world.]

He had left DxD and entered an entirely new world.

What greeted him was a modern cityscape; beneath his feet was a flat concrete road, and ordinary high rise buildings stretched into the sky nearby.

At first glance, there was nothing unusual about the surroundings. The sky held a natural hue, and the air carried the faint, familiar scent of dust and gasoline. It looked like an ordinary, bustling city.

Is this a world of superpowers like the last one? Roy wondered.

He scanned the area; fortunately, there was no repeat of the embarrassing arrival he had faced in Danmachi.

The immediate area was deserted and quiet...the kind of peaceful arrival he preferred.

"Is it evening?" Roy looked up at the sky.

The sun had begun to sink, staining the horizon in crimson hues. If the laws of this world mirrored his own, it would be dark soon.

"For now, let's figure out exactly where I am," he muttered. He left his quiet landing spot and headed toward the lively districts in the distance.

As he walked, Roy took a small piece of gold from his storage and toyed with it. Every world had its own currency, and even when they looked similar, they were rarely universal.

However, based on his experience, gold remained the ultimate hard currency. After dealing with a lack of funds in the past, he now made sure to keep a reserve of gold in his storage.

"It seems quite a few people here possess a decent amount of power," Roy noted.

Entering a bustling commercial street, he blended into the crowd.

There were no demi-humans or elves here, everyone appeared to be a normal human.

However, his perception caught something interesting: some of the passersby possessed an aura similar to Mana.

So, it is a world with extraordinary powers after all, Roy noted.

For him, a purely ordinary world was only good for a vacation. To increase his strength, he needed a world with supernatural elements.

Ten minutes later, Roy stepped out of a jewelry shop. He had sold a piece of gold for a substantial sum of money. Although the shop had lowered the price due to the gold's unknown origin, the loss was negligible to him.

Roy bought a smartphone, found a restaurant with free Wi-Fi, and began researching the world.

"Blazers?"

Seeing those words, Roy felt a flicker of familiarity. As he browsed the information, his memories became clearer.

Although this world appeared identical to Earth on the surface, it was vastly different in terms of history, culture, and geography.

At its core, this was a supernatural world dominated by individuals known as Blazers.

A Blazer is a person who can manifest their soul into a physical weapon known as a Device. This Device is an intrinsic spiritual tool...a weapon that takes the form of the user's soul. These guys can manipulate supernatural phenomena using Mana. They are rare individuals, appearing in only one out of every thousand people.

In ancient times, Blazers were known by other names: magicians, witches, or sorcerers.

Their Devices were whispered of in legends as Holy Swords, Cursed Artifacts, or Demonic Bows. Generally speaking, this ability cannot be acquired through training.

It is a miraculous power one is born with an extraordinary ability that transcends mortal arts or conventional weaponry.

Unlike DxD, Blazers do not hide their existence. The public is fully aware of them, and news of their exploits is broadcast daily. Consequently, Blazers influence every aspect of society. The police, the military, and even the nature of warfare revolve around them.

The strength of a nation is often determined by the quality of its Blazers. If a country produces a World class Blazer, its influence and status can rival that of a superpower, regardless of its economic or technological standing.

Naturally, in a world where such power has existed for millennia, a specific order has emerged. Great power requires shackles to prevent chaos.

Thus, every era has developed rules to restrain these powerful individuals. In the modern age, this has culminated in the Mage Knight System.
