Chapter 196 - Chapter 196: International Warrant? A-Class Fugitive?

None of them thought to look up. Zhang Yang sat cross-legged on the stone beam, watching the Enforcement Bureau agents below with ease.

He leaned back against the wall. They wouldn't leave for at least another ten to twenty minutes.

At the very least, they'd need to search the entire Musée Guimet before calling it off. Zhang Yang planned to use that time to rest.

"Bruce and Harrison are finally catching on. But sometimes being too smart isn't a good thing either."

Zhang Yang chuckled and shook his head. Those two had completely figured out his usual tactics. They even guessed he'd go for the Dragon Nation Gallery.

"Shit, something's missing from the Dragon Nation Gallery too!"

"Damn it, Director Victor, the Bronze Gilded Buddha Pagoda is gone!"

During the sweep, one of the agents quickly realized the artifact had vanished.

Victor, Bruce, and Harrison rushed over. The moment they saw the empty glass display case, they were all shocked.

"Shit! Kaitō Kid took two items this time?"

Bruce was stunned. That had never happened before. No matter how many priceless artifacts there were, Zhang Yang always took only one. He never touched anything else, not even more valuable items.

It had always been one item per heist—never more. This was a first.

Harrison was quick to react. He immediately understood what had happened with the missing item from the Ancient Civilizations Exhibit.

"No, Bruce. Kaitō Kid's real target was the Bronze Gilded Buddha Pagoda. What he took from the Ancient Civilizations Exhibit was just a decoy. He used it to throw us off and make us think that was his real target..."

He sighed. "We actually had it right from the start, but he tricked us."

After hearing Harrison's analysis, both Bruce and Victor finally understood.

"Damn that Kaitō Kid! He's so damn cunning!"

Victor gritted his teeth, furious. He hadn't expected their first encounter with Kaitō Kid to end in such a humiliating failure.

Up above, Zhang Yang heard every word. He held back his laughter so hard it nearly burst out.

Sure, they figured it out—but too late. As long as Zhang Yang waited patiently for the sweep to end, he could leave the museum completely unscathed.

Victor ordered a full sweep of the entire Musée Guimet. Not a single corner was spared.

Nearly an hour later, he returned to Bruce and Harrison, looking totally defeated.

"We couldn't find him. We practically turned the whole museum upside down."

Once they realized the Buddha Pagoda was missing, Bruce and Harrison had already given up hope.

"Director Victor, call off the search."

"Kaitō Kid probably left a long time ago. Staying here is pointless."

Outside, the crowd and media had been waiting for an hour. Inside, Victor and his team were running themselves ragged, nearly digging the place out by the roots trying to catch Zhang Yang.

But outside, it was dead quiet—almost too quiet.

"Fuck! What the hell happened in there? It's been an hour with zero movement!"

"That gunshot earlier—did Kaitō Kid get shot?"

"Oh my god, it's been ages! What are Victor and the others even doing?"

"No way. Did Kaitō Kid really take a bullet? Are the French agents actually that good with a gun?"

"Get real. If Kaitō Kid had been shot and caught, Bruce would've strutted out here showing off by now!"

Even though they had no idea what was happening inside the museum, everyone remained confident in Zhang Yang.

Even with gunshots ringing out earlier, no one believed for a second that Zhang Yang had been hit.

Jeff and Daweika were still waiting in the crowd, refusing to leave without Kaitō Kid's signature. Without it, they wouldn't qualify to compete.

That six hundred million dollar prize was enough to light up every nerve in their bodies.

"Daweika… what if Kaitō Kid actually got caught?"

"That'd be bad. If he's arrested, how are we supposed to enter the competition and fight for that six hundred million?"

Daweika frowned and pulled Jeff out of the crowd.

If Jeff was the battle-hardened muscle, Daweika was the brains and support.

"If Kaitō Kid were that easy to kill, Bruce and Harrison wouldn't have chased him all the way to France."

"The hell… I never even saw when he slipped into the museum!"

Right now, what frustrated Daweika the most wasn't whether Kaitō Kid got caught or shot. Like the rest of the fans, he believed that chance was basically zero.

What really bugged him was not even spotting when Kaitō Kid entered the building. If they couldn't even catch a glimpse of him, getting a signature was hopeless.

Jeff scowled and shook his head. "Same here. Didn't see a thing."

"So is Kaitō Kid still inside? Where do we go now?"

Daweika dragged Jeff back to their off-road vehicle by the street. Then he climbed onto the roof and sat there, eyes locked on the museum.

Zhang Yang just happened to spot them through the window. Both of them were sitting on the roof of their car, staring at the building without blinking.

'Almost forgot about you two!'

Those two were still a threat. Zhang Yang wasn't about to let them lie in wait for him.

They weren't lurking for anyone else—they were after him.

Zhang Yang pulled out his phone and posted a new update.

"To the three senior officers from the Enforcement Bureau at Musée Guimet—if you can't catch me, maybe try your luck with the two A-Class fugitives sitting on the off-road vehicle just outside."

To avoid giving away his own location, Zhang Yang didn't attach any photos of Jeff and Daweika. Instead, he posted their international wanted notices.

If he had uploaded a photo from his perspective, Bruce and Harrison would've easily triangulated his position based on the angle.

The moment the post went live, it exploded like a bomb, setting off a storm of reactions.

"What the hell? International warrants? A-Class fugitives?"

"Oh my god! Jeff and Daweika? They're really outside the museum?"

"Holy crap, international A-Class fugitives? What kind of insane crimes did these two pull off?"

"This is Kaitō Kid handing Bruce and Harrison a mission on a silver platter. He's hilarious!"

"Hahaha, Kaitō Kid just gifted them the glory. Whether they can actually grab it… that's on them!"

Bruce and the others quickly saw the post. The three of them exchanged looks, frowning deeply.
