Pulling his car to stop, Rey found his hand snaking around Mia's tightened fist. Mia's wide shifty eyes looked at his reassuring ones and he nodded at her.
Mia's brows furrowed a little, she had long told herself to go with the flow and ignore whatever green signals Rey was sending her way but it was easier said than done.
"Do you really love me like you declared back there?" Rey asked her, his hand tightening around her hand. He was nervous and he could not help the fast thrumming in his chest, he didn't know why he succumbed to the urge to ask but he wasn't going to take it back.
Mia looked at Rey with her face almost twisting into a scowl. She wondered where his mysterious question was coming from not understanding why he would suddenly ask questions like this from nowhere.
Studying Mia's contemplative face, Rey instantly knew that he would get himself hurt from her response so before she could voice out a word after opening her mouth, he spoke first.
"I like the energy you displayed out there." His words felt like he had a handful of sand packed in his throat but he kept talking.
Mia blinked back disappointment from showing blatantly on her face. Was this it? The reason he asked the sudden question?
"I need you to keep the same energy in there. My parents are very observative and we don't want this to go wrong." He smiled at her and she forced her lips to pull into an awkward smile.
"Okay?" He asked and already felt he was talking too much.
"Okay." Mia responded feeling the urgent need to shut him up.
"Wait here." He told her with a slight nod before stepping out of the car after which he walked like a perfect gentleman to her side of the car before opening it and letting her out.
Looking at him and giving him a dazzling smile just in case his parents were watching from inside the house, Mia accepted his outstretched hand, came out of the car and leaned in on him for support just like any other fiancée in love would do.
"The luggage…" She made to turn back to look at the boot but Rey gently turned her face towards his.
"The servants would take care of it." It was his turn to give her a heart stopping smile and she had to avert her gaze too quickly to avoid flopping.
"We are good huh?" He questions and Mia gives him a short nod and out of nowhere, Rey places a kiss on her cheek making blood rush up to her face.
Seeing Mia turn red from his kiss, Rey felt the satisfaction of being solely responsible for her reaction and hoped that his parents, especially his mother, would be watching from behind one of the windows.
Mia silently prayed that she avoided a heart attack with the amount of sudden public display Rey was throwing at her. She tried to calm her racing heart as she gave him a reassuring smile in return.
On opening the door to the sitting room, a loud throaty voice which sounded painful and too near for Mia's liking boomed and stunned by the suddenness of the voice, Mia found herself stumbling over something and the next thing she saw was the tiled floor.
'Oh no!' She exclaimed in her head as she closed her eyes to welcome the heavy contact of the floor with her skin or at least the pain from falling.
