Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : Recovering

* Inhale * Exhale * Inhale * Exhale *

Gradually oxygenated blood and deoxygenated circulated ceaselessly through Calvin's body. A singular candle producing light in the space.

Nonetheless the candle's dying light was weak, but another energy source provided illuminance through the room and that was Calvin's Diabolic Energy.

The refined silver essence which emitted from Calvin's being. Weeks had passed since his battle with Lady Serina and things had since then, been quite monotonous.

The lady who saved him, name Kyra, had briefed him a little about herself.

She said, she came from a cohort of nearly thirty members and they were sent by their sect to investigate the movement of the first horseman, The Conqueror.

She told him quite somethings due their time together although she wasn't too talkative.

The reason she had not left to join her cohort was unknown to him but he felt it was due to something she mentioned earlier.

When the chasm opened, it was so immerse that it took up a one third of the city's land space. Swallowed a good amount of its inhabitants which were mostly comprising of Horrors.

Since the chasm was eternally dark, it harbor the horrors beyond the tenure of the silver moon. Since they couldn't return to the Ezglo-Nether realm during the day they wandered the depths of the chasm.

Kyra said, her and her cohort had managed to uncover the rankings of the horrors, during their journey out of the chasm.

The beings who appeared through the nightly vortex were split into, The Horrors and The Terrors.

The horrors had humanoid but mostly grotesque forms and existed in ranks, as, Dormant, Awakened, Arisen, Ghastly, Gothic, Hazard, Corrupted, Fallen, Transcendent, Maelstrom, Harbinger, Fiend and Demon.

Each had to go through tier 0-9 to be able to ascend the next rank. Terrors on the other hand were said to be unfathomable malevolent demonic deities.

They were mostly idle, but with their strengths founded the Orders. The Supreme Terror of the Ninth Order[1], being the one who fabricated the horrors form nothingness.

Calvin had asked for a human rankings but was told, it was still in development. The highest human was ranked Grandmaster by the system and they we sure it wasn't the highest.

They just had to grow stronger by slaying monsters and The Depraved Humans, zombies in layman's terms.

Today he had fully recovered, from the moment he opened his eyes, he had be refining his essence.

So he not only felt healthy enough to move, but also strong enough to face most of the things heaven could throw at him. Scrap that, not most but a little, more like a fractional bit.

He rose from the ground and equipped his trench coat through his system inventory. He placed his hat on his head and looked over at the last candle flame.

With a flick of his wrist, the flame left the candle and formed a ring of fire around his neck. It didn't touch his skin yet it hovered closely away form it.

" I underestimate the power of ' Manipulator ', he said to himself as he walked out of the derelict shack.

{ Lucifer : Plainly, that is level one Omnikinesis }

" I know that Lucifer, I am not dumb " he responded to the devil. While he was out of the building, he met a lone figure a few paces away sitting calmly by a blazing flame.

Adorned with long flowing heterochromic hair. Mostly, as black as the abyss, however each strand had a yellow tip. Finally blessed a perfect athletic hourglass figure.

Modest curves, abundant, but seemingly suppressed by tight the tight apparel she accoutered.

Walking over he sat opposite the figure which was the supernaturally beautiful, Kyra. Her facial features unmatched by anything Calvin had encountered.

She looked up at his arrival and said calmly, " Are you leaving. "

Calvin stared around the infinite darkness around them, then replied wearily, " I think I am. " She kept mute for a while, seemingly lost in thought.

" I shall guide you " she said.

" Why? " Calvin asked, shocked at he proposal.

" I was waiting for your recovery, so we can survive the depths together, going alone is nothing short of a suicidal deathwish. " She replied looking emotionlessly into his eyes.

" What makes you think, I would be of any use. " he asked, " No human, except me and my cohort exist at this depths, the rest must be insanely powerful to survive the fall without the type talisman we used " she explained calmly.

" If you were weak, you wouldn't have been standing before me, after surviving a fall from that height. " Kyra added.

Calvin sighed, " I would really love to stick with you but truthful, I am cursed by heaven and I am on my way to annihilate it…. " he said, but before he could finish she chirped in.

" That makes us very much similar, Once I rejoin my cohort, we can split ways and forget each other's existence. " Kyra said, sensing his non-compliance to let her tag along.

After thinking for a moment, Calvin looked at the ethereal beauty who hadn't looked up until now. ' Pity ', he reluctantly nodded in agreement.

" I trust this collaboration to end beneficial for both of us " Calvin said staring into the amaranthine darkness around them, Kyra mumbled something as she rose.

She looked around, then directly at Calvin, ' Curses ', he avoided her gaze. The last time he looked into those grey orbs of Vision, he felt his blood rush directly to the lower part of his body, especially in his crotch area.

Not ready for that sort of embarrassment, he awkwardly stared at the ground. " May we proceed, " Kyra said.

Calvin looked beyond her, " You hold the compass of direction, let us commence. " A spark of white light weaved something small in her hand. After shaking it a little she began moving in a direction and Calvin followed.

The ring around his neck casting a bright but benign light, reflected a one meter area of which they had sight. The rest was an ever growing world of darkness, which would swallow them up in any given scenario.

So just to be safe Calvin activated his trait called soul sense and his new skill which he hadn't tested. In a world of Horrors, awareness was the greatest tool.

And the skill Grave Instinct was that tool. He summoned the skills interface to read it's description before activation.

His soul sense allowed him to sense the presence of everything living being around a hundred meter radius. This new skill was just an upgraded version which spots things with murder intent.

' Nice, ' He scoffed, ' Every thing you see in this world wants you dead, even nonliving objects. ' Calvin activated the skill at the expense of ten aether points.

Little did he know, this skill would be more useful than he expected.
