She hissed. "Is that why you let him go? So that he can call for help?"
Severin shrugged.
She looked at him with unmasked hatred and anger. "You said you wanted me dead and now you want to work with me and even help. Do you think I'm a fool?"
"No," Severin began slowly. "You're not. But you're also not stupid. Of course, I initially wanted to kill you, but then I saw how I can use your powers. It's a win-win. We can go back to killing each other after.
"You can also try to stab me in the back. Or I can do that. Let's leave it for after we cooperate."
She watched him without speaking. On one hand, what Severin said made sense. Not the nonsense about him helping her and them working together, but the part where she had only little energy left and killing him would leave her so depleted that she wouldn't be able to teleport to safety when reinforcements arrived.
