When Emma woke up from her sleep, cold sweat gathered on her forehead. Driven by her anxiety, she breathed heavily and scratched on her arms, hoping that the pain would allow her to stay sober.
Turning on the light, she checked the time. It was two at night. Emma ran her hand through her hair and got down from the bed.
She was too afraid to fall asleep now.
Once she went downstairs, she made herself a cup of coffee, and then, going over to her room, she took out her laptop to start studying.
Since she couldn't sleep now, it was better for her to spend her time doing something productive.
Emma read through the project developed by Daniel and his friends. In her mind, she pictured out the scenario she would be presenting it to her father.
Although her father doted on her, he recklessly wouldn't allow her to mess around when it came to business. Moreover, with her mother on the side, she truly had to convince him.
