"I see," the king hummed for a moment before probing further, "Then, what is the reason for your arrival on this continent? I am not sure why they would let a defenseless maiden sail across the sea to a completely new area."
"W-we are planning on a trade. I was tasked to become the emissary to trade around this continent," Odette continued spinning the web of lies, hoping that all of them make sense for the king. "But my entourage got attacked by dark beasts, so everything that we brought has been lost. I am the only survivor of the entourage."
"When I first met her, she tried to pay for an inn using a gold coin with a strange inscription that I have never seen before. That's why I brought her into the main capital because I know she won't be safe in the garrison," Prince Alexander added, and the king suddenly burst out laughing when he heard that.
Odette's heart jumped when she heard the laugh, fearing that her lies had been uncovered by the king.
