Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: Legend of the Silver Eyes

[3rd POV]

With Blake leaving, Wanda knew that the girl would likely be coming back sooner or later to talk with her about what happened with Weiss and the White Fang that she had been looking into.

What she had not been expecting was for Blake to return a few hours later, her fellow team members following behind her. Weiss looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there at the moment, Ruby was looking a little awkward, while Yang had a small smile on her face. Blake on the other hand walked up to the counter and bowed.

"Thank you for the help earlier, it truly means a lot" Blake said, bowing to her as Wanda blinked with an amused smile.

"No need to thank me, hon. I just helped one of my favorite customers, that's all" Wanda responded, waving off her thanks, as it truly was no big deal for her. That, and she didn't like Weiss's racist phase in the beginning of their journey.

"Well, I am thanking you either way, Wanda" Blake responded, as she looked at Weiss, who looked back at her before sighing.

"Thank you Miss Wanda, for helping Blake, and helping her show me the ignorance of my words. It truly means a lot" Weiss said awkwardly, not used to apologizing to others.

Hearing her thanks, Wanda giggled "no need to force yourself, Weiss. I know that you aren't exactly enthused about this, afterall, you barely know me" Wanda said as Weiss let out a sigh.

"I am not, but...I truly must thank you, Miss Wanda. Without you speaking to Blake about how to handle my foolishness, she could...she could have been seriously injured, or worse. And for that, it is only right for me to thank you" Weiss responded, causing the others in her team to smile at her words.

What she said was right, and it made them happy to see that the Ice Princess was changing as a person, and changing for the better.

All thanks to them, and the help of Wanda. Wanda's words had done a lot more than she had expected them to. And would likely end up changing several things that would be coming regarding the White Fang, and the team's reaction to them.

"Well, you are welcome Weiss. Is there anything else you girls want, or were you just here to thank me?" Wanda asked, as they nodded their heads.

"Yep, we're here for some books, and I think my sis wants some cookies too" Yang said, as Ruby looked at Wanda with sparkly eyes, who only chuckled as a plate of cookies soon floated in from behind her, with around 20 cookies on the large plate as Ruby wasted no time and began to munch on them.

At the same time, Weiss had moved to the stories section, and Blake had quietly moved to the non-fiction section, which was actually right next to the romance section. So once she had an opening, she'd be able to buy some romance books like she wanted.

While Yang had moved to the martial arts section again, as she found some of the other books to be useful last time she had checked them out. But this time she noticed that there were over three dozen new books in the section, and some of them were a lot more interesting than the older ones.

A lot more descriptive too.

After she scarfed down the delicious cookies and paid for them, Ruby moved back to the blacksmith and weapons section. She had actually used some of the techniques she had learned from one of the blacksmith books, and had improved the firepower of her mechashift weapon.

So she was very very excited to find some new books to learn from.

It didn't take team RWBY long until they had found their books. With Ruby grabbing a total of 4 books, Yang 3, Weiss 2, and Blake with the most at 6 books. The only reason they were even willing to grab so many, was because Wanda sold her books at pretty cheap prices compared to their worlds.

That, and they hadn't bought any of the truly rare books. The rare ones could cost as much as a few thousand dollars, due to just how rare or incredibly powerful they can be.

Looking over the stacks of books, Wanda watched as the girls were about to bring out their cards to pay, only for Weiss to slap a fancy looking black card onto the counter.

Wanda had actually started taking debit and credit cards over the past few days, after she had created her own sort of bank account for the money. Where it would be converted into USD and deposited into her bank account. It was also impossible to detect anything wrong with it too.

"Weiss-" "Nope, I'm paying. It's my form of paying you all back for acting like such a brat the past few days. And nothing you say is going to stop me from paying for your books, by the way" Weiss cut Blake off, as Wanda chuckled and took the card.

After the money went through, she handed Weiss her card back, and gave each of the girls a bag for their books. It wasn't a dimensional bag just yet, as they hadn't spent enough for such a thing. She imagined they would eventually once they decided to learn about Salem.

Glancing at Ruby, Wanda decided to help the girl out.

"Ah, before you leave, I actually have something for you, Ruby" Wanda said, as she reached down under the counter, and brought out an older looking book.

This was actually a book she herself had written after she had looked into the silver eyes, their creation, their uses, and the training methods for them. She had done this because...she was bored. That, and she thought it could be a good thing for Ruby.

"Here, I think you might be interested in what you can learn from this" Wanda said with a smile, as she handed the girl the book who looked at it confused, before flipping it open.

"Huh? You-you wrote this?" Ruby asked, noticing the author was Wanda. Wanda just nodded, as Ruby flipped forwards, only to stop at the title of the book, her eyes widening.

The title was "The Silver Eyes of Legend".

Yang looked at the title equally as confused as Ruby, who was looking into Wanda's eyes that glowed a slight silver.

"I did. I suggest you read it whenever you have the time, as it might just give you some insight about why that headmaster of yours was so interested in your eyes" Wanda responded. Ruby looked down at the book and then back at Wanda.

"And once you finish that book, I hope you'll come back. I'd love to speak with you more about the eyes that you inherited" Wanda said, as Ruby looked at her with wide eyes breathing in a sharp breath as she realized Wanda was speaking of her mother...Summer Rose.

"O-Okay" Ruby said, looking down at the book, deciding she would read it the second she got back. As it...as it might just give her information on what happened to her mother.

"Weeell, bye!" Yang said, as she dragged her sister away, deciding that they needed to talk about this. And maybe talk with their dad too.

Watching them all leave her shop, Wanda chuckled.

'She'll be back soon'

After leaving the shop, Yang looked to her sister a second later "You okay sis?"

"Y-Yeah, but...but I need to read this, Yang. This book...it might explain more about what happened to mom" Ruby responded, while Blake and Weiss both looked a little confused, but decided to stay silent as this was obviously not their place.

"Ruby, that lady...I don't know if we can trust her. Maybe...maybe we should tell dad or uncle Qrow? Hell, even Ozpin. Sh-She seemed to know about mom, hell, she seems to know a lot of things that she shouldn't" Yang said, as Ruby instantly shook her head.

"No! Not until I read this book and get answers! She might be the only person that can help me understand what happened to mom! And if Ozpin or dad or even Uncle Qrow find out, they'll try to stop that!" Ruby exclaimed, shaking her head.

She wanted to know what happened to her mom more than anything, and this woman was the key to that. And she was not about to let that chance get taken from her.

"...Sis, are you sure?" Yang asked, looking into her sister's eyes as Ruby nodded resolutely.

"...Fine. But once you finish that book and get the answers you want, I'll be telling Uncle Qrow, okay?" Yang said. Ruby frowned at this, but nodded in the end, understanding that Wanda did know a lot of things she realistically shouldn't.

But it didn't matter right now, as all she wanted to do was read this book and learn more about her eyes, and what might have happened to her mother.

'This'll be interesting~'
