The warmth from his body seeped through the pajamas and onto her skin, gradually warming her up.
It was as if he was marking a claim; her whole body was encompassed in the man's embrace. They had slept together before, but mostly after everything was done. Clearly, he had good bedroom manners—never just falling asleep immediately after.
The few times he behaved differently were during those days in the apartment. Whenever she couldn't sleep due to menstrual cramps and kept tossing and turning. Maybe she disturbed his sleep, so he would hold her to keep her still.
Yet now, the man behind her wrapped his arm around her waist, his chest pressed against her back. The bedroom was quiet, and she could clearly hear the sound of his heartbeat.
She wasn't sleepy at all.
She didn't know how much time had passed before a deep voice sounded near her ear, "Asleep?"
Nan Wan didn't move, softly replied, "Not yet."
After this brief exchange, the bedroom returned to silence.
