Connor returned home, and as soon as he walked in, he went to the bedroom to see Natalie Niles, but the bed was empty!
He was startled, a bit flustered in an instant: "Natalie!"
"Over here."
A cool, clear voice came from the balcony. Connor hurried over, relieved: "Why are you here?"
She was hidden by the curtain between the balcony and the bedroom, so Connor hadn't seen her earlier.
"I wanted to get some sun."
"Your internal injuries have just started to get better, you shouldn't be moving around."
Connor looked at her pale face, her entire weak demeanor, and couldn't help but ask, "How did you get over here?"
Natalie's tone was light: "I crawled over."
She reached out a hand, feeling the blazing heat of the sun, her eyes unfocused, but a faint smile appeared on her lips: "Being alive feels pretty good."
Connor's heart was suddenly gripped by pain.
