Clearly fuming, deeply caring, yet still forcing himself to hold it together, Alex Hawk had no idea where Brandan had gotten this sudden excess of pride. He thought this guy had long since lost all pride in front of Iris Harris.
Alex let out a soft sigh, "Since you're not going, I'll go."
Brandan shot him a look, "What are you going for? If I'm not going, then you're not allowed to go either!"
Alex snorted, "I'm not like you. I never told Sophia Sutton we should never speak again. I haven't seen her in a month, I miss her, and I want to see her."
The sweetness in his words made Brandan's face look even worse. He was utterly enraged, sitting in his office chair, his refined face full of anger.
Yes, he had harshly declared to Iris that they should never have anything to do with each other again. But even so, he couldn't make her stay.
Now, going to see her again—wouldn't that be slapping himself in the face?
