Lady Hyde came in from outside and saw Brandan tightly holding Iris Harris.
She was startled, hurriedly went over to separate them, and protected Iris behind her, glaring at Brandan like a mother hen protecting her chick.
Brandan looked at his mother's actions, incredulously calling out to her, "Mom?!"
"You clearly promised me you wouldn't bully Iris anymore, and now what are you doing?!"
Lady Hyde's voice trembled with anger.
Brandan retorted angrily, "When did I bully her again?"
To be honest, it was clearly she who bullied him!
"Then just now, you two..."
Lady Hyde turned to scrutinize Iris Harris, and once she saw Iris was fine, she breathed a sigh of relief and gathered her into her arms. She issued an order to Brandan, "You go out first!"
Brandan was furious, glancing at Iris Harris and then at Lady Hyde, before reluctantly walking away.
Once Brandan left, Lady Hyde helped Iris back to the bed, putting a pillow under her waist and carefully covering her with a quilt.
