Iris Harris put down the hairdryer, looked up at Brandan Hyde, and after a while, said, "Is there anything left to talk about between us?"
She looked into his angry eyes and smiled, "Brandan, this is who I really am. The kindness I showed you before was all an act."
Brandan's lips pressed together lightly.
Iris looked at him, "I don't want to be good to you anymore."

Brandan stood there, stunned, without any reaction.
Iris stood up from the sofa, not knowing how to face this man.
She had once loved him so desperately, until her heart turned to ash.
Brandan stood behind her and suddenly opened his mouth, "Then from now on, let me be good to you."

Facing away from him, Iris heard his words and let out a silent laugh.

She no longer needed it.
