At the time, the whole venue only had two quiet beams of light: one continuously shifting to follow a colleague performing a folk dance, and the other quietly spilling over her from start to finish.
That shallow moonlight-like beam actually elevated her whole program's level far above the others.
The program unexpectedly scored first place at the Haidian District's New Year Gala, among others.
The Party Secretary of Haidian District nodded in satisfaction and said, "This girl is good. She's played the violin at a professional level in international performances. Let's have her perform again next year!"
So, in 2018, she was pushed onto the stage again. Unable to play the violin anymore, she had no choice but to team up with a colleague who could play the erhu, and together they created a Western-Eastern blend of "Galloping Horses."
She herself thought the performance was mediocre; she even missed a note.
