Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Mu Chen

On the first day of her new marriage, she was left at home by her husband. From the sympathetic look Yu Ma gave her, she knew just how embarrassing it was.

But Mu Yan remained at ease. After all, they weren't a real couple.

After touring the house, Mu Yan followed Yu Ma upstairs and chose to stay in the guest room, despite Yu Ma's hesitance to speak.

In the airport VIP lounge, a man sat in a chair with a laptop on his lap, holding a phone in his hand.

He looked composed, his voice even calmer, "Mm, if she likes it, let her be."

After ending the call, his fingers continued to tap on the keyboard.

Not long after, the boarding announcement echoed.

He closed the laptop, handed it to Lian Jun beside him, and got up to head towards the boarding gate.

He hoped that by the time he returned, she would have gotten used to being Mrs. Jiang.

After spending a night in the villa, the next day Mu Yan went to the hospital to see her brother.

Her brother Mu Chen had congenital heart disease, and at sixteen, he had a car accident while saving her, leading to heart failure. He had been confined to the hospital ever since.

After their mother's death, she took on the heavy burden of earning money for her brother's treatment.

In the hospital room, a boy of about twenty lay on the bed with gentle and handsome features, his skin an abnormal paleness.

The only flaw was that he was too thin.

Over the years, it wasn't just Mu Yan who was worn down by treating his illness, but also him fighting relentlessly against it.

"Chenchen, how are you feeling, any better?" Mu Yan entered with a thermos bottle, looking at her brother with concern.

Mu Chen's eyes lit up as he saw his sister walk in.

"Sis, you're here. I'm fine. What about you?"

"Of course, I'm fine too." Mu Yan's gaze suddenly fell on his filthy clothes.

She frowned slightly, "Didn't the caregiver wash your clothes?"

Mu Chen's eyes flickered as he said, "No, I accidentally got them dirty this morning."

Mu Yan looked at him, clearly skeptical, as the stains seemed quite old.

A young boy on the neighboring bed couldn't hold back and said, "Sister, Mu Chen's caregiver hasn't shown up for more than a week."

Mu Yan's expression changed slightly as she looked at Mu Chen, "What's going on?"

Mu Chen's eyes were full of stubbornness, "Sis, I don't need a caregiver. I can take care of myself."

Mu Yan reproached, "Nonsense, is this dirty state how you take care of yourself?!"

Though she knew deep down he didn't want to burden her.

If only she had the capability, her brother wouldn't have had to live so hard.

She held back her tears and changed the subject, saying, "I made porridge for you. Let's have some first."

As she spoke, she poured out the lean meat porridge from the thermos.

Mu Chen looked at her slightly pointed chin, his eyes filled with distress.

"Sis, maybe you should give up on this." He spoke in a slightly low voice.

With a "bang," Mu Yan slammed the thermos heavily on the table.

She looked at him sternly, "How many times have I told you, I'll handle the money issues. Just focus on recovering. I'll hire another caregiver to look after you, no more nonsense."

"But sis, I don't want to be your burden." Mu Chen's face dimmed, his eyes filled with guilt.

Since he was young, he had been a burden to the family, especially in these recent years.

Sometimes, Mu Yan wished he wasn't so understanding. She quietly said, "You're my only family in this world. Can you bear to see me all alone?"

"Sis, I..." Mu Chen looked at his sister, tears glistening in his eyes.

He certainly didn't want to leave her, but neither did he want to be her burden.

Mu Yan took out a tissue and wiped his tears, playfully chiding, "How old are you now, still crying? You're not allowed to say such things again."

Mu Chen looked at her and reluctantly nodded.

Mu Yan picked up the porridge from the table and fed it to her brother, "Here, taste your sister's cooking."
