A little baby lying beside her was crying loudly, the noise so intense it made her head hurt.
"No, no, don't cry!" Jiang Xue looked at the endlessly crying little baby beside her, feeling somewhat helpless. Although she had lived another lifetime, she had rarely taken care of a child in her past life.
She remembered clearly that after her son was born, she had directly handed him over to her mother-in-law and father-in-law, becoming a hands-off manager herself. She hadn't even fed the child once, let alone anything else.
So, when she heard the child's cries now, she had no idea how to handle it.
While Jiang Xue was feeling helpless, her mother-in-law Bai Yuhua put down the yarn in her hands, stood up, looked at the little baby, and said, "He's probably hungry."
"Hungry?" Jiang Xue was a bit stunned; hadn't the child just been born? How could he be hungry so soon? She didn't recall this happening in her previous life.
"Yes, hungry." Bai Yuhua chuckled, then turned to get a cup, put a spoonful of brown sugar in it, mixed it with warm water, and then picked up the child to sit on the chair. Then she took the cup and fed the child a bit at a time using a spoon.
After a few sips, the child indeed stopped crying. Jiang Xue watched, finding it rather wondrous, and couldn't help but ask, "Mom, isn't the baby supposed to have milk?"
At this, Bai Yuhua laughed and looked up at Jiang Xue, saying, "Babies do require milk, but you haven't lactated yet, right? So, just let him drink some sugar water, and when your dad buys the formula, he can have that."
"Lactate?" Jiang Xue was stunned again. She had always thought milk would come naturally after childbirth, but it turned out not to be the case.
"Alright, I'll take care of the child, you should rest a bit," Bai Yuhua said, amused by Jiang Xue's dazed look.
For some reason, Bai Yuhua felt that her daughter-in-law had changed since having the baby. Even though they hadn't exchanged many words, she sensed a change in her.
However, this change was welcome for Bai Yuhua. Thinking about Jiang Xue's previous temperament, honestly, if she weren't the person her son loved, Bai Yuhua would've wanted to hit her.
Jiang Xue, however, didn't rest. Instead, she watched Bai Yuhua holding the child. This was her and Mu Qiancheng's son, rosy and very cute. Looking at such a child, her heart melted completely, and she desperately wanted to hold him herself.
By now, the baby had drunk quite a bit of sugar water and wasn't crying. His little eyes were darting around curiously.
When he met Jiang Xue's gaze, he even smiled, seemingly amused. At this moment, Jiang Xue was melted by his cuteness again and said to Bai Yuhua, "Mom, can I hold the baby?"
"You want to hold him?" Bai Yuhua was surprised, then handed the child over to Jiang Xue, instructing her on how to hold him.
Jiang Xue watched carefully, then took the child. Since her posture was wrong, as soon as the child was in her hands, he began crying again, startling Jiang Xue so much she almost dropped him on the floor.
Seeing this, Bai Yuhua was quite frightened, quickly took the child back, and said, "Xue'er, you better rest first. After you've rested, you can hold the child again."
"Alright!" Jiang Xue nodded and suddenly realized the child didn't have a name yet, so she said, "Mom, can I give the baby a nickname?"
"Sure, what nickname would you like to give the baby?"
