Sophie Smith lay on the bed, listening to the sound of water rushing in the bathroom, unconsciously furrowing her brows.
No matter whether her earlier actions were unintentional or not, it seemed she had hurt Nolan Davis.
To her, Nolan Davis might be an existence akin to a benefactor; she knew he had 'bought' her to be his woman, and she ought to fulfill her responsibilities. But...
In certain aspects, she really couldn't do it.
She would be grateful to Nolan Davis, but not by using her body, nor her heart, as a bargaining chip.
Just as she was lost in thought, the bathroom door suddenly opened. She couldn't see him, yet only heard a voice.
"Is there a bathrobe?"
Where would she have his bathrobe? In the Davis family, all servants are female; only Nolan Davis is a man. Unless she asked Nolan directly, but how could she be so brazen?
No choice, she just shook her head.
"And a towel?"
"Wait a moment, I'll look for it."
