Sophie Smith knew she couldn't out-talk Asher Land. Perhaps she should slowly get used to it—used to Asher Land's tone of voice, his domineering and overbearing personality, everything about him—until he got bored of her.
"I want to get out of the car."
She didn't know why, but a wave of nausea suddenly surged in her heart. Maybe she had eaten something bad at noon, and the cramped car felt a bit stuffy. She wanted to get some fresh air.
Asher Land steadily parked the car by the roadside. Sophie opened the door and swiftly ran to a nearby trash can.
"Ugh..." She dry-heaved, wishing she could just pull her stomach out.
"What's wrong?" Asher Land asked anxiously while patting her back.
"I'm fine. I just ate something bad at noon."
Asher was still a bit worried and insisted on taking her to the hospital.
"Really, I'm fine. Just give me a bottle of water."
Asher rushed back to the car only to find there was no water.
