Chapter 27: Dating the CEO
I started dating Beautiful Butt.
Every time I went on a date with Beautiful Butt, I made sure the whole class knew about it—I wanted Duyên to see it clearly. It was only after dating Beautiful Butt that I realized how many good qualities he had.
One time, while we were out, he received a call from a journalist informing him that his younger brother had once again invited his gay friends over and caused chaos at home. He immediately took me back to my dorm and rushed home.
Beneath his glamorous exterior, his family had a lot of issues. He deeply loved his younger brother and was very filial to his parents. He covered up all his brother's troubles so that their parents wouldn't have to worry, while he himself took on the responsibility of disciplining his brother and finding psychological treatment for him. There was even a time when his younger brother became depressed and isolated himself from society due to discrimination.
Once, I even had to go to the hospital with him because Trần Bình Minh attempted suicide—apparently over a breakup. That day, I saw Beautiful Butt cry out of sheer helplessness.
On the weekend, we went out again. While we were having dinner, he got another call. It seemed like there was an urgent issue at his company. I started feeling guilty for taking advantage of him. He was so busy, yet he still made time for me.
Since our restaurant was near his office, he decided to take me there with him. The situation must have been serious for him to do so. I waited in his office while he calmly listened to an employee report a server issue, along with the difficulties they had encountered. After listening, he coldly said:
"Starting tomorrow, you don't need to come to work anymore."
I was shocked. How could he fire someone so easily?
The employee wiped sweat and tears from his face. His expression had been tense the whole time, but now, it was filled with despair. Yet, he said nothing more—he quietly returned to his desk to pack up his things. It seemed he knew that once the CEO made a decision, there was no changing it.
I approached Beautiful Butt and whispered:
"Aren't you being too harsh?"
He sat down and let out a tired sigh.
"My company pays high salaries, but we also have high expectations. This server issue cost us billions. Firing him is already a lenient punishment."
After saying that, he stood up and walked toward me. He gently placed his hands on my shoulders, looking straight into my eyes—serious yet sincere.
"Come work for me after you graduate."
Oh, hell no. If I worked for him, he'd probably say, 'If you can't do the job, then just quit.' I nearly died working for Mr Auntie for just two months—working for him would definitely kill me. I laughed.
"Do you even have enough to pay my salary? Why are you recruiting me so early?"
Hearing that, he laughed too. He softly touched my cheek.
"I'll let you own the company. No need to worry about a low salary."
At that point, I was speechless. That future was never going to happen—absolutely impossible.
His movements were gentle, and his face slowly leaned closer to mine. Oh no. Was he going to kiss me?!
I swiftly dodged in the most natural way possible and softly said:
"Maybe I should take the bus home so you can focus on your work."
Beautiful Butt hesitated, looking at me. We had been dating for a while, yet he hadn't even gotten a single kiss. Handsome, charismatic, rich—countless beautiful women had thrown themselves at him, some even content with just a kiss. And yet...
He stood there, smirking—a proud yet self-mocking smile. Then, he straightened his tie, went downstairs, and drove me back to my dorm.
I publicly dated "Beautiful Butt," but my mind kept drifting to Mr Aunt. I tried to suppress it, but I couldn't stop anticipating Mr Aunt's lectures, secretly watching Mr Aunt walk out of class. Even in the hallways and the schoolyard, my eyes searched for Mr Aunt's figure. But when we faced each other, all I could do was lower my head and smile to myself.
I never thought I would like Mr Aunt, which is why I was so carefree when teasing Mr Aunt before. But now, I realized there was something different growing inside me. Mr Aunt was too tall, too distant, too cold—I didn't have enough confidence. If someone liked me, no matter how outstanding they were, I wouldn't care. But if I liked someone first, and they had even one quality that surpassed me, I would feel utterly inferior. At work, people compare looks and financial status. At school, they compare social standing and IQ. The gap between Mr Aunt and me was too vast.
