Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: A New Storm on the Horizon

{"Not as yet, but you do need a combat focused tame still. I'm assuming that won't be Sunblaze.}

"I hadn't planned on it, though some defensive skills might be nice." Sam replied thinking of what she needed.

{"Well there is an option that may work in her favor with her personality. The beast type is called a 'Stormclaw' it's an air and lightning type. It's an agile, fierce, aerial-influenced feline whose speed and elemental strikes.

It also has a four stage progression when starting this young. It starts with a Stormkit - a house cat sized beast even as a kitten. Its Active Skill is called Static Pounce – It dashes at a target, dealing minor damage, in lower rarity and tier cases, and briefly shocking them.

Her passive skill Electrified Whiskers – Slightly increases dodge rate due to static-boosted reflexes. Used together it could stun a target allowing you or another tame to deal more damage. At this stage of your progression it would help hone your combat skills.

The second stage is Voltclaw - A lynx sized cat, sleek and lean. She'd gain a second active skill called Chain Dash – She'd hit one enemy, then bounces to a second if within range. Dealing lightning damage. Excellent for when you have multiple enemies.

The second passive skill is called Static Speed – She gains a five second burst of movement speed after landing a hit. A deadly combination when timed right.

The third stage is Tempestail - this stage would enlarge her to roughly the size of a panther. Again she'd gain a new active skill called Tempest Coil – which unleashes a whirling storm slash in an arc, dealing AoE damage and pushing lighter enemies back. While the passive skill Storm Dancer – Makes her immune to movement slow effects, reduces fall damage, and gains speed in rain.

Finally we have her final stage Stormclaw - she'd grow to the size of a medium sized tiger, which is still quite large but without all the bulk. Her final active skill would be Thunder Fang – where she can bite a target with a charged strike. If the enemy is immobilized or entangled, the attack deals bonus damage and has a high crit chance.

Her last passive skill Dual Hunt – Where if an enemy is focused on you or an allied beast, a Stormclaw deals +20% damage to that target."}

She looked at the small gray kitten. She was diligently cleaning her face. Her little belly, round with her big meal. Once done she stretched and then lowered the front half of her body. With her little butt up in the air doing a little wiggle, she pounced on her poor unsuspecting sister, who was just finishing her own bath.

She nipped at Iggy's neck then took off like lightning around the cave as Iggy's little growl of annoyance could be heard as she chased after her. Sam laughed to herself

'Well she has the lightning quick reflexes already' she thought. 'Maybe Jarvis was on to something.'

She called them over and in classic cat fashion they ignored her completely. The little gray cat, not being quite as fierce as she pretended, dashed back to Sam to hide amongst her legs.

Sam picked her up and the kitten purred in satisfaction. Almost saying "Ha! You can't get me now!" Sam lifted her in front of her face and smiled.

"How about Tempest…you are definitely a disaster waiting to happen. We'll call you Tempy for short. Does that sound good, my hopefully soon-to-be little Stormclaw?" she asked, placing that kitten on her lap. She scratched behind Tempy's ears and the little kitten purred even more.

Sam used inspect on her once more and sure enough her name had changed and she had the same progression as her sister. Looking over at Sunblaze her progression was a little different thanks to the uncommon core she received.

{Name: Sunblaze

Age: Adult

Species: Domesticated Horse

Level: Un-Integrated

Integrated Process: 20%

HP: Full}

Just as she thought the core had given her a higher boost.

{"From now on I'd recommend feeding Sunblaze wind and light affinity cores. The result would have her Integrating into a 'Dawnsveil Courser' it's a rare wind-light hybrid beast known for speed, grace, and radiant mana. Its kind are said to walk between day and night, unseen by predators and revered by ancient tribes.

Since she's being integrated as a full grown adult her changes will be different from the kittens. Like humans, their Integration steadily grows until adulthood where they will reach their final form. So it will be different from Sunblaze's integration.

Since she's an adult her abilities will have an easier and faster time manifesting because of her strength. At this stage she's still a normal horse physically, but her mana sensitivity is growing. She'll be able to track you using Bonded Rays which will shine a ray of sunlight towards you, even through rough terrain or weather.Her passive Tamer's Bond will begin manifesting by understanding your emotions and tone better.

Even her reins and saddle enchantment will sync with the S.I.S.T.E.M. map, using the passive Coursers Mark allowing you to see where she is. No more hide and seek quests.

It'll be hard to see right now but she'll have a slight glow in the eyes during dawn/dusk. Her mane will occasionally lift like caught in a breeze, even in still air.

Stage two is Awakening the bond. Since she is a domesticated animal and not wild she will naturally bond with her human. It's not the same as a beast bond, it's more of a natural bond between rider and mount.

This stage happens as the integration process enters the 50–99% stage. Her new abilities, while not as strong until full integration, will be Galebound Step - It temporarily boosts speed, agility, and silences hoofsteps. Great for pursuit or escape.

Since she doesn't gain a skill in the first stage her second skill will be Dawnflare Pulse which needs to be unlocked with sunlight exposure. It emits a radiant burst of light that stuns nearby beasts for 1 second, non-damaging, but useful for repositioning.

Her passive skill will be Sun-Linked Bond - When you are mounted, both of you gain increased perception and evade chance.

As for physical changes, her mane and tail will catch and hold light like a prism. Her legs will shimmer faintly, like a heat haze. Her breath will glow faintly golden in cold air. She'll be a sight to be seen. I'm sure you can understand why they were practically worshipped.

Her final stage will be her integrated Form Dawnsveil Courser. When her Integration process is at 100%. Her newest abilities will come at their intended full strength with her other skills being boosted as well.

Her next active skill will be Horizonbound Leap - A leap like wind-glide that can carry her over chasms or obstacles. While midair, it reduces incoming ranged damage.

Her second to last passive skill will be Solar Veil which cloaks both rider and mount in refracted morning light—brief ten seconds of invisibility for travel or ambush.

Her final active skill Aurora Kick is a blinding front-hoof strike that sends a radiant shockwave in a cone (a mount-only combat move, with a high Mana cost it's used rarely).

Her final passive skill is Lightstride; it leaves no tracks and moves silently unless galloping.

Her final form will have her body now faintly emitting dawn-hued reflections, like a glossy opal. Her hooves will glow lightly with a sunrise gradient. And a subtle aura of light wind surrounds her, lifting dust and leaves as she passes. Truly beautiful creatures."}

"Wow, yeah that will be amazing to see. How can we guarantee she'll end up as a Dawnsveil Courser though. What if she integrates as a … Pegasus or something. Not that I'd complain, that would be awesome."

{"Where Pegasus plentiful on your original planet?"} Jarvis asked in a snarky tone insinuating something Sam hadn't quite caught yet.

"Pfft. Of course not, they were myth…. Ahh I see where this rarity thing comes into play again."

Letting Tempy down and making her way towards the kitchen, she made her own dinner and then called it a night. Climbing into bed Iggy made her way towards Sam's chest and snuggled in while Tempy attacked her feet before doing the same.

"Well Jarvis I think that's enough for one day, good night."

{"You've done marvelously Sam, most take at least a few months to get to what you've done in a day. You should be proud. Good night and pleasant dreams.}

The next day Sam woke up bright and early. The sun was bright as it filtered through the cracks in the roof of the cave. Lighting it in dappled rays. She stretched her body, the bed was exactly as uncomfortable as she imagined. The years of use must have conditioned her body too, because after some more twists and turns to loosen her muscles she was in fighting form once again.

"Good morning Jarvis, I think it's high time I choose my first class. Let's see the options, though I'm sure I'll go with the one you suggested."

{"Good morning to you as well Sam. Now is a perfect time for that. Here is a list of your available classes."}

Not even having to think about it she thought 'Yes'.
