Meanwhile, in the world of Journey to the West...
"Who? Sun Wukong?!"
With a piece of grass in his mouth, Sun Wukong, who had been sleeping lazily on a crooked tree branch, suddenly jolted upright. He dropped from the tree and stared wide-eyed at the sky and the updated World Gold List.
"Could it be... my grandson?"
He scratched the fur on the back of his hand, then rubbed his head, his expression puzzled yet curious. He hadn't expected to secretly enjoy the spectacle, only to become part of it himself.
"Ten thousand years from now, you will all remember my name—Sun Wukong! Brother Monkey, come and see—it's you!!"
Zhu Bajie, who had just returned from scouting the Women's Kingdom ahead, rushed over and shouted excitedly.
"Idiot, shut up!" Sun Wukong barked, glaring at Zhu Bajie before returning his focus to the leaderboard hovering in the sky.
The name listed was indeed his. However, the narration and portrayal that followed felt unfamiliar, even slightly off.
"Let's see what this Gold List is really trying to show. If it dares to twist my story and disgrace my name, I'll smash it with one blow!"
With that thought, Sun Wukong continued to watch as the image on the sky screen gradually came into focus.
The clouds drifted apart, revealing a clear and vibrant sky.
Suddenly, a multicolored divine stone streaked from the heavens, landing atop a majestic mountain peak. The passage of countless eons was depicted in a flash, showing the slow erosion of time.
Then one day, heavy rain poured from the sky. Thunder rumbled over the peak of Thunder Mountain, and the multicolored divine stone cracked open.
A monkey radiating brilliant golden light burst forth from the stone with a roar that shook the heavens.
Waves of Dao rhythm spread across the land. Purple and gold energy swirled. The dark clouds and thunder dispersed instantly.
There stood a radiant monkey, bathed in golden light, atop the mountain. His expression was blank, as if unfamiliar with the world.
"Huh? A monkey?"
"The second-ranked figure is a monster?"
"Interesting... this monkey was born of nature itself, formed from the essence of the sun and moon. An innate spirit!"
"But what kind of power does he have?"
Across the myriad worlds, powerful beings were shocked. Unlike the human cultivators or gods who appeared before, this figure was a stone monkey born of heaven and earth.
In the Journey to the West world, Sun Wukong nodded in satisfaction.
"This is how my story began…"
A flashback began playing.
The young Sun Wukong, having just been born, soon became the Monkey King. He led the monkeys of Huaguo Mountain in joyous revelry. However, as time passed, he watched his fellow monkeys age and die, one by one.
This was the moment he realized that to enjoy true freedom and longevity, he needed to seek the Dao and attain immortality.
Alone, and under the worried gazes of his kin, he left the mountain and journeyed across vast seas in search of immortality.
At that time, he had no supernatural powers, relying only on his innate strength. Just as he was about to return in despair, Bodhi Patriarch, an incarnation of the Western sage Zhunti, secretly pulled him in with divine power—disguising the meeting as a coincidence—leading him to Mount Lingtai Fangcun.
"Huh? So even that was orchestrated?" In his world, Sun Wukong frowned deeply.
Was his apprenticeship also calculated?
A strange feeling of discomfort began to stir in his heart. Still, he held back his emotions and kept watching.
On the Gold List screen, Sun Wukong knelt and became a disciple of Bodhi at the Xieyue Sanxing Cave on Mount Lingtai Fangcun. He learned the Seventy-Two Transformations and other divine arts. When he finally left, he kowtowed three times with gratitude and returned to Huaguo Mountain.
From then on, he befriended the Bull Demon King and other great demon kings, declaring himself the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
He ventured to the East Sea and retrieved the Ruyi Jingu Bang from the Dragon Palace, then barged into the underworld and struck his name from the Book of Life and Death.
Growing increasingly arrogant, he shook the heavens. A mere stone monkey was now causing chaos throughout the Three Realms.
But this rising pride came at a cost—he had incurred Heaven's wrath.
Sun Wukong led millions of demons and beasts in rebellion against the Heavens, beginning a battle that raged for centuries.
Eventually, Samadhi True Fire consumed Huaguo Mountain.
What was once a paradise of beauty became nothing but scorched earth.
Devastated, Sun Wukong accepted Heaven's offer of peace. However, unknown to him, Heaven's promise was a ploy.
While he was distracted, Heaven ordered Yang Jian to lead an army to slaughter his remaining allies—Princess Iron Fan, the Bull Demon King, and others.
All his companions were massacred because of him.
In the Journey to the West world...
"Wrong! This is all wrong!!"
Sun Wukong screamed, eyes wide in disbelief at the unfolding images.
This wasn't how he remembered it.
He remembered being persuaded by the words of Taibai Jinxing and accepting a post in Heaven. It was his gluttony that eventually caused friction, leading to war.
But this—this version—this was far too cruel.
A strange anxiety crawled over him. The fear wasn't just for himself, but for the possibility that the world he knew had always been manipulated.
Still, the images on the Golden List screen continued to play.
Sun Wukong, realizing the betrayal and the deaths of his friends, resolved to atone, even if it meant death.
Huaguo Mountain was now a wasteland.
A blood-soaked monkey leaned against a charred peach tree, his eyes distant and cold. His expression was no longer familiar—only filled with pain.
He looked to the sky with quiet hatred.
Boom!
Dark clouds gathered overhead. The sky was swallowed by shadows. The pressure was suffocating.
Thunder crackled and lightning surged across the heavens. The world flashed and flickered with chaotic energy.
Suddenly, golden light burst from Sun Wukong's eyes.
Through his gaze, the watchers saw it too.
Countless gods and immortals floated high above, mocking and laughing.
Fairies pointed at the broken land, gossiping about the ruined mountain and the countless dead.
Then came a vast Heaven Court army—millions strong.
It sent chills down everyone's spine.
Above, the gods were aloof, towering and detached.
Below, on the ruined Huaguo Mountain, a bloodstained demon king stood alone amid shattered peaks and dead silence.
Sky and earth—divided by a line of clouds.
The music in the background was slow and ominous, pressing into the chests of everyone who watched.
But Sun Wukong did not yield.
He clenched his fists. A golden light burst from his palm and pierced the sky.
The clouds shattered. The mountains trembled.
He wore thunder as his armor and storm as his cloak.
The monkey roared, iron staff in hand, and leapt into the sky!
At that moment, a powerful voice echoed in the hearts of all who watched:
"Great Saint, what do you seek?"
"To trample the heavens and break the southern sky!"
"Then you shall never return!"
