Boom!
Boom!
The earth-shattering battle continued without pause.
In the Clover Kingdom's royal capital, everyone had their heads raised, staring at the sky where two blurry figures clashed — flickering like starlight, indistinct and shifting.
"They're too strong! We can't even get close!"
"Yeah... it's like gods are fighting up there..."
"Damn it... to think I, a Magic Knight, would one day be reduced to just watching these atrocities unfold in front of me, powerless to stop them!"
Clenching their fists tightly, many Magic Knights were seething with frustration.
They hated themselves for being too weak — the enemy had come right to their doorstep, and all they could do was watch helplessly.
"Don't panic! Everyone protect the citizens! We must believe in the Wizard King!"
"That's right! The Wizard King will definitely defeat the enemy!"
"Go, Wizard King!"
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Above them, the battle between Julius and Patolli continued.
Under the buff of his Elven Reincarnation, Patolli's magical strength had increased greatly.
Though still unable to reach the Zero Domain, he had entered the First Domain.
And with Light Magic — the fastest of all elements — even Julius's Time Magic found it hard to keep up with him.
"He's using a compound technique of his Magic Domain and Time Acceleration — by accelerating the magic flow around himself, he's able to perceive short glimpses into the future, predicting my next attack... The theory is sound, but don't think you can outrun me!"
Analyzing it swiftly in his mind, Patolli's speed surged again.
Julius could only predict — not react instantly.
You know the saying:
Mind: "You've reacted, so you can dodge."
Body: "No, you haven't reacted fast enough..."
Zing!
In a flash of light, Julius pulled back, but a frown appeared on his face as blood bloomed across his chest.
Patolli hadn't even shown his full speed yet — he was still holding back.
Smiling smugly, Patolli taunted, "Too slow. As I expected — even with prediction, your body can't dodge as fast as your mind. Wizard King, how does it feel to be injured again after all this time?"
"Haha... you're right. I've taken away the futures of so many, and yet it's been a long time since I've seen my own blood..."
His face was calm, as if lost in memory.
For every general who succeeds, countless bones lie beneath their feet.
And Julius, the Wizard King, had climbed to the top the same way.
"I've figured out your time magic — it's impossible for you to—"
"Oh? My magic is fundamentally about stealing time from others, storing it, and using it at will... like this—"
Huh?
Impossible... time just rewound!
Seeing the blood vanish from Julius's chest in an instant, Patolli's face twisted.
So... he can reverse any injury, as long as he has stored time?
That would make him essentially immortal.
No matter how many times Patolli injured him, Julius could heal in a flash.
But Patolli only needed to be hit once... and it would be over.
"Tch..."
Though retreat crossed his mind, he saw that Vetto and the others hadn't reached their positions yet, so he decided to drag things out a little longer.
[Light Creation Magic — Whip of Judgment]!
A dazzling light whip danced like a dragon in flight, scribbling chaotic strokes through the air like an artist's brush.
He was buying time, but each strike was still deadly and relentless.
But then — he noticed something wrong.
Julius... had changed.
"So fast!"
Watching Julius dodge the light whip effortlessly, Patolli's heart sank.
His speed was nothing like before.
Clearly, Julius hadn't been fighting seriously at all.
[Time Binding Magic — Time Suspension]!
Zing!
Patolli barely dodged, vanishing just in time.
He turned to see a glowing orb of suspended time where he'd just stood.
His heart pounded.
When did he—?
Had he been a second slower, he'd have been caught!
"Ah... just missed. You're really fast. Even with my prediction, I can't quite catch you."
Julius landed calmly on a rooftop, voice light.
But to Patolli, those words were terrifying.
He wasn't an idiot.
By now, it was obvious:
He wasn't Julius's match at all.
"He's too strong... Just a human, and yet this powerful? Wait... where's his grimoire?"
It suddenly struck him — Julius had no grimoire beside him.
Could it be... he'd never fought seriously this whole time and had been toying with him?
"Oh? You noticed?" Julius smiled, raising his hand toward the sky.
"Curious where my grimoire is?"
Patolli looked up — and his breath caught.
A massive cylindrical object floated in the sky — completely white, with no cover.
Page after page turned in a slow, clockwise spin.
Unique. Otherworldly.
Was this... really a grimoire?
Patolli's blood ran cold.
A grimoire like that... was terrifying.
"Time magic, paired with a grimoire with no cover... I don't even know if that's good or bad," Julius said softly. "But yes, I'm different."
"That's why... I've thought long and hard. Like this grimoire with no label, I, too, cannot be easily classified."
"Who am I? What should I do? I kept asking myself these questions, while constantly achieving results. And when I finally reached the top, I understood..."
"It is the path I've walked... that defines me. I am... the Wizard King!"
