But one thing couldn't be denied—Katakuri's value was extraordinary. As the heir of the Charlotte Family, he was a bargaining chip far too important for Kronos to overlook.
Payne said, "If that's the case, then you don't need to worry. Just now, we found Katakuri in the dungeon on Honeycomb Island!"
"From my investigation, it seems Marco didn't have time to take Katakuri with him, so he left him behind to fend for himself in the dungeon."
Kronos nodded slightly. After hearing this news, he couldn't help but feel pleased.
As long as Katakuri could remain in his hands as an important pawn, then no matter how much Charlotte Linlin hated him, she would never dare to act recklessly.
Put nicely, Katakuri was a chess piece. Put bluntly—he was a hostage.
And with such a hostage in hand, what could Charlotte Linlin really do?
"As for the rest of the Charlotte Family," Payne continued, "they're imprisoned together with Katakuri as well."
Then he added, "But rest assured—I've already placed two of my clones in the dungeon. No matter how powerful they are, they won't be able to escape."
With those words, Kronos was completely reassured. He knew just how strong Payne's clones were.
Though not as powerful as the Deva Path, the other bodies still possessed formidable combat ability. They were at least star-level fighters compared to other pirate crews.
With two such powerhouses guarding the prison, Kronos didn't believe the Charlotte Family could possibly escape.
If they did manage such a feat, then Kronos would have no choice but to think the gods themselves were favoring Katakuri and the others.
"Hmph! Why keep them alive? It'd be better to kill them all with one strike!"
"Spare them, and long nights will only bring nightmares!"
"Some enemies should be killed decisively!"
"Cut the grass at the root—don't leave a single one alive!"
Uchiha Madara crossed his arms, looking down on the Charlotte Family like garbage.
You couldn't really blame him for thinking this way. He knew all too well that although Katakuri and the others had been defeated, they still possessed great power.
To underestimate them now would only bring disaster in the future.
Before Kronos could respond, Albedo, who couldn't stand it anymore, jumped in.
"Uchiha Madara, can you actually use your brain when you speak? How could the captain choose to kill Katakuri at this time? Don't you know how valuable Katakuri and the others are?"
"Maybe we can even force the Charlotte Family to work for us!"
But Uchiha Madara, arrogant as always, just snorted coldly and said, "The Charlotte Family? Is there really any need to negotiate with them? In fact, not just their family—even Charlotte Linlin herself—I don't take her seriously!"
"Akainu couldn't defeat me. Do you think that old hag could?"
"To be honest, I can't wait to fight Charlotte Linlin myself! Hahaha!"
Madara spoke with absolute seriousness. To him, defeating Akainu alone wasn't enough. He wanted to face even more of the strongest Marines and pirates in the world.
