He attacked with the destruction thunder on the weak points of the spells. Since he couldn't win against all of them alone, he wouldn't take all those attacks head-on, naturally. He did think about escaping their encirclement and going for the pole. But realistically, it wasn't possible to do that. Escaping the encirclement of 80 Seekers and Jaden Redmar and going for the flag would be suicide.
Because even if he did by some miracle escape their encirclement, the moment his back was turned towards them, he wouldn't be able to dodge their attacks, and his defensive runes wouldn't be able to protect him from more than a few seconds at most, that again would not be enough to reach the flag pole and break it. So, he could only keep them busy; he also needed to buy time, not just Jaden, though he couldn't put a finger on what Jaden was actually up to, even till now.
