Since Professor Darwin revealed that everyone needed to decide on who should be assigned to which position, he advised all the students to decide on it as soon as possible, and work on their total coordination as a whole team in these few days as much as possible.
Heinz even asked the professor if it was possible to actually train in the fortress, but Darwin simply said that it wasn't allowed; that is the setback you have to work with, it's a difficulty that is part of the test itself. But they can train in one of the large fields if they want. They only needed to tell the academy staff, and they would isolate the field so that no one else could see their training.
