Chapter 247 - Chapter 245: Lakeside Cabin

Anyway, Madison, Zoe, and Maria from the Apocalypse Society still haven't found Carrie.

Mortel Snow, since she's not long for this world, is too afraid to use her psychic powers to find Carrie. It's like the girl just up and disappeared, leaving no trace.

So, where is Erica now?

Roy checked for Kayako's cursed dagger and found it was super close, probably right here on this little island.

He tried to get Kayako's cursed dagger back, but for some reason, Kayako wasn't answering his call.

What's going on?

Just then, Roy suddenly heard this beautiful singing. It sounded like a woman humming, and the sound was coming from the exact same place as Kayako's cursed dagger, like it was leading him over.

Huh!

Roy picked up the pace and got to where the singing was coming from. There he saw the blonde beauty, Erica, sitting on a little dock, humming some tune he didn't recognize.

The song was just a melody, no words. Erica just used simple sounds the whole time, but it was really pretty and kind of catchy.

Kayako was totally out of it, lying next to Erica like she was asleep.

Wait, can ghosts even sleep? Something's off!

Roy immediately got on his guard.

Undead don't totally skip sleep, they just don't need it every single day.

Some powerful undead can conserve energy by taking long naps, like vampires.

But Kayako, being an evil spirit, definitely isn't one of those. Whatever knocked her out must be some serious dark magic.

Just then, Roy started feeling a little out of it too. Erica looked like she'd turned into someone else in his eyes.

A beautiful woman with the same long blonde hair, wearing a flower crown, a white dress, and just radiating this motherly vibe.

The big thing was, this woman had a baby bump, she was obviously pregnant.

Crap! I've been hit!

With his 54 willpower points, Roy was pretty resistant to mental stuff, unless it involved a pretty lady.

Being a total straight dude, if a hot woman was trying to seduce him, Roy was a goner.

Luckily, Erica was just trying to hypnotize him, so he was still hanging in there.

Bang!

Roy immediately pulled out his ivory-handled Smith & Wesson M629 and fired a shot, trying to break Erica's creepy, siren-like singing.

The shot missed Erica, but it definitely ruined her singing mood.

Roy shook his head, realizing that the image of the blonde woman in the white dress was morphing back into Erica.

They both had long blonde hair that was kind of pinned up, and they looked a bit alike anyway, just dressed differently.

Erica was in a business suit, while the blonde woman in his head was wearing a comfy white maxi dress.

But then things got really weird. Roy suddenly noticed that Erica's stomach in the real world was also huge, like she was about to pop.

How did that happen so fast?

Roy definitely remembered that just an hour ago, Erica had a really slim waist, he'd been close enough to notice.

How did her stomach get so huge in under an hour?

Is it Lee, Barry Allen!

Erica, her singing interrupted, turned to look at Roy.

That's when Roy saw that the blonde's eyes were all white, and her whole face was covered in weird black lines.

Usually, that kind of look means someone's possessed by an evil spirit.

So, Erica must've been taken over by that blonde woman in the white dress Roy just saw, that's why she looks like this.

Awesome, Barry Allen is off the hook!

If it's just a regular evil spirit, it shouldn't be too hard to handle.

But remembering how strong that hypnosis was, even Kayako, who's a pretty strong evil spirit, got easily put under. Roy figured he should play it safe.

Then, Erica suddenly got off the dock pilings and started walking towards Roy with these really stiff and weird movements.

Which totally confused Roy, who was on high alert.

Is that all?

She only took a few steps before suddenly falling flat on her face and not moving. Roy was just speechless.

Playing possum?

Roy's shot totally missed Erica because of that illusion, he had no idea where it went.

So whatever's going on with Erica, it's definitely not Roy's fault.

Still, Roy was pretty curious about why Erica was acting like this. Maybe Kayako knew what was up.

So, Roy just left Erica lying there and first grabbed the cursed dagger, then woke Kayako up.

"Kayako, what the heck just happened?"

The ghost wife looked a little out of it when she woke up, like someone who just rolled out of bed and isn't quite with it.

But as soon as she saw Roy, Kayako snapped out of it and started gesturing wildly to explain what she'd seen while following Erica.

Since Roy had had a bunch of run-ins with Kayako and Sadako, they had a pretty good understanding. He pieced together what Kayako was trying to say.

While Roy was busy fighting Jason, Erica snuck away to this island and talked to some middle-aged guy with red hair and a red beard.

Kayako couldn't quite gesture what they said, so they'd probably have to ask Erica later.

After that, the red-haired guy suddenly pushed Erica off the dock into Crystal Lake and then sped off in a speedboat.

Roy turned to look at Erica and sure enough, she had some water on her.

So is that why Erica's acting like this? Did some kind of water ghost take her over?

Come to think of it, a lot of stories about water ghosts say they have big bellies, maybe because they drank a ton of water before they died.

So maybe Erica's huge stomach isn't because Barry Allen got her pregnant, maybe it's just the water ghost messing with her.

Barry Allen: Will this ever end?

Now that he knew what was going on, Roy walked over to Erica, ready to get rid of that water ghost.

With the Key of Solomon, getting rid of a water ghost would be a piece of cake for Roy.

But that's exactly why Roy got a little careless.

As he was rolling Erica over, the blonde suddenly opened her mouth and this massive tongue shot out.

Luckily, at the last second, his Assassin's Heart gave Roy a warning, and he instinctively went into bullet time.

That tongue was crazy fast! Even in bullet time, Roy barely managed to get out of the way.

But it wasn't over. Erica's tongue snapped back, like it was trying to choke Roy out.

Good thing Roy was still holding Kayako's cursed dagger and just sliced Erica's tongue right off.

The long tongue fell to the ground, and it was still twitching and jumping around like it was alive.

That's not right! Water ghosts can't do that!

In a lot of myths, water ghosts can create illusions or use their voices to lure people into the water and drown them.

But you don't hear about water ghosts whose tongues keep flopping around after being cut off.

This immediately made Roy think of what happened to Jason, the kid who offed a hundred people. Could it be...

Sure enough, the next second, Erica's stomach ripped open, and it was full of teeth and tentacles, totally gross.

"Get the hell out of here!"

Without even thinking, Roy kicked Erica and sent her flying.

When she landed, Erica was lying on the ground, her whole body turned light red, and she sprouted a bunch of extra arms and bone spikes, like a spider.

And Erica's face got super gross. Not as tentacly as Jason, but covered in these red bumps that would give anyone the creeps.

"Get outta here!"

Any sympathy Roy had for her just vanished. Humans are so visual, seeing Erica like this just made Roy want to hack this ugly thing to pieces.

He pulled the chainsaw sword out of his inventory, shifted into demon form, and the Hellfire chainsaw sword easily sliced off Erica's limbs and then her head.

Even after that, Erica was still squirming on the ground, but that was about it.

Guess Erica was just too weak to begin with. She didn't have Jason's toughness, so even mutated, she wasn't much of a fighter.

Roy shoved the Hellfire chainsaw sword into Erica's chest, and the Hellfire blazed up, burning Erica from the inside out.

"Is it over?"

Erica stopped twitching, but Roy wasn't sure if she was really dead. She wasn't a special character, so there was no system message to tell him.

Just when Roy thought Erica was done for, her giant watermelon-sized stomach suddenly started swelling up fast.

Roy wasn't sure if this thing was going to blow up or mutate even more, so he had to use the Hellfire chainsaw sword to give Erica an emergency C-section.

Wouldn't you know it, something actually popped out of Erica's stomach! Roy, quick as a flash, smacked it onto the ground with the side of his Hellfire chainsaw sword.

Looking closer, it was actually a baby, all red and slimy with amniotic fluid.

She was actually pregnant? What in the world is happening?

The baby on the ground looked like Roy's smack had dazed it. It shook its little head, then bared its gums at Roy, acting all tough.

Well, ain't that something!

The baby started flailing its arms and legs like crazy and then charged at Roy.

But the size difference was ridiculous. This baby looked like a toy next to Roy, who was like ten feet tall in demon form.

As soon as Roy lifted his foot, the baby went flying past.

Then Roy's foot came down, stepping on the baby's umbilical cord, but it kept trying to crawl forward like crazy.

Doesn't look too bright!

Well, it's about as premature as you can get, so maybe it's a little slow on the uptake.

Roy pinched the umbilical cord and picked up the baby. It was still trying to bite and claw at him, totally ferocious.

Then, Roy just flicked the little thing on the forehead, and it actually started bawling right there.

Huh, would you look at that?

Just then, Kayako came over and started gesturing to Roy.

"You mean you want to take care of this little guy?"

Kayako, who lost her son Toshio, seemed to be getting all motherly and wanted to adopt this little thing Roy was holding.

But Kayako's an evil spirit, and this little thing in Roy's hand is a dead baby. How's that going to work?

But then Kayako took the baby, and that long umbilical cord attached itself to her stomach, like some kind of freaky deal.

Roy could clearly see Kayako's ghostly energy flowing into the baby, like she was still pregnant.

Seriously? That's a thing?

Roy just stared at Kayako and the baby, kind of amazed.

But this setup has its problems. Kayako can't just keep powering up the baby forever, there's gotta be a limit.

Especially since the little thing was like a rabid puppy, always trying to take a chunk out of Roy.

So, Kayako, getting a little ticked off, grabbed the baby and started swatting its butt.

Even though she didn't have a paddle, the baby's eyes cleared up pretty quick. Guess a little discipline does the trick when kids are acting up and biting.

Of course, after the spanking, the little guy was still hungry, so they had to figure that out.

In the end, the little thing started munching on Erica's body. Its stomach was like a black hole, it actually swallowed Erica whole, even though she was way bigger.

Whatever it couldn't digest got passed back to Kayako, who would deal with it later.

Right then and there, Kayako and the baby formed this weird symbiotic thing, which Roy thought was pretty wild.

"Kayako, since you want to keep him, he's your responsibility now. Don't let him cause any trouble."

Kayako quickly nodded, then grabbed the baby and poof, they were gone into the cursed dagger.

The island in the middle of the lake wasn't that big, and after a quick look around, Roy figured there wasn't much to see.

Judging by this old photo, it looks like a family of four used to live here.

The dad was a big, red-haired guy, and Roy wondered if he was the same red-haired dude Kayako had seen earlier.

There was a wife with blonde hair, wearing a white dress and a baby bump, just like the woman Roy saw in his head.

Besides them, there were two kids in the picture, a blonde girl like her mom and a red-haired kid like his dad.

"Looks like there's nothing else interesting here. Let's head back and see if Needy found anything."

Just as Roy was about to head back, he saw some lights on the lake in the distance, looked like they were coming from that little town across from the resort.

What's going on? Could it be that Mr. R is coming back for revenge with his goons?

Roy quickly ducked behind some nearby bushes.

The lights on the lake got closer and closer, and Roy saw a small boat pull up to the dock. A bunch of people, like a dozen, stepped out holding torches and wearing dark red robes and pointy hats.

Whoa! Is that...
