Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: A Bad Decision

I don't know why I feel like if I ask for something, not only will you not fulfill it, but you'll also ignore me, so I'm not going to ask for anything. You guys win; do what you want, and just so you know, I was a little frustrated, but it doesn't matter much; this feeling is totally temporary.

I feel like if I want to get attention, I'll have to put a half-naked female character on the cover, which I wouldn't like; honestly, I don't want to get to that point.

That said, expect me to show up here complaining about certain things, like the fics and like my daily life. Without further ado, let the fic begin.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's been five months since we left Sabaody, and, if you will, we've been sailing the seas. Yes, we've helped villages in need, and yes, we've also captured pirates for modest rewards. But it's completely monotonous; we've done just that and nothing else, nothing interesting to talk about, no challenges to face, just pure boredom. Sometimes I wonder how the Mugiwara managed to have an extreme life-or-death adventure every few months.

Of course, the world stops, because while we were here, two very important things happened. First, Shiki escaped from prison, cut off her legs, and flew away, as if Impel Down had a hole for her to squeeze through. Maybe so, but with Shiki, there will be no more. Second, Ohara was destroyed; I wondered when that would happen. Well, it was a month ago. With that, the bounty poster appeared for Nico Robin, the demon girl. I could go help her, but the problem is, I don't know where she might be. I don't remember. So if I find her, I'll do something. If not, she'll wipe out the Mugiwara, so there's no bad fate.

Great news: Arthur is 15 and Sulli is 17; besides, my birthday is next month. Come to think of it, I have no idea how old Hun is. I tried asking her that, but she has no concept of time in days, so I don't know.

We've all grown stronger, in a way, but not that much, since without the challenges that weigh us down, growth is quite slow.

On another note, I recently finished writing the book of Arthurian legends. The legend has gained widespread recognition and, in turn, my name as a writer as well. How great it is to plagiarize without anyone being able to tell you anything in return. I'm currently writing my next book, 1984, about Big Brother. Not that reality show for preteens, but the one with Big Brother watching you and the propaganda with all that entails—basically, George Orwell's book.

Another slightly funnier point: Sulli tried to go out with Trini, but she immediately rejected him, saying he wasn't enough of a man for her. Sulli was very depressed for a while; in fact, he still hasn't fully recovered. I also had to intervene so everyone's relationship wouldn't go down the drain because of it. After jokes, humiliation from everyone, and a drunken stupor I can't remember, everything went back to normal. I think they started talking afterward, and everything ended well; I have no idea what they said, but I don't care.

We've been from boat to boat, six in total, including this one, doing nothing.

We're currently on a "dangerous" route, but he decided to take it anyway because we were there, and it saved him a month of travel.

*Clack* *Clack*

The sound of two guns colliding was heard. I looked to see who it was; it turned out to be Arthur and Trini training. Trini is trying to control her Armament Haki. Since they're not much use, she managed to awaken it after an intense fight with me.

Trini: "I can't take it anymore. I'm so tired, my legs hurt, and I'm sweating," she said as she knelt on the ground.

Arthur: "You're still lacking. You couldn't use Haki even once."

Trini: "I know, this thing is useless." At that moment, she threw away the sword she was using for training. She wasn't going to use the weapons and risk breaking them.

Arthur: "Fine, I just hope nothing happens right now."

Dante: "Mufasa!" I yelled at Arthur.

Arthur: "What's wrong with you?" He looked at me in confusion.

Dante: "Mufasa, if you say something specific, it might end up happening, and I'll hit you in the chest. That's Mufasa." That's not really Mufasa; it's more related to bad luck. But technically, it's an informal way of saying Murphy's Laws.

Trini: "Don't exaggerate, that doesn't pa-" Trini couldn't finish as the sound of cannonballs being fired was heard.

Trini: "You don't know how much I hate you."

Dante: "The feeling is mutual, tinged with pichi." What a great insult to Donald Trump.

I took the opportunity to mock Trini and ignore her now that she's on the ground, tired, unable to move. I also used my Haki to see what was happening in the direction of the shots.

It turns out it's a confrontation between two pirate gangs; I have no idea who they are, but it's a chance to look for new challenges. Boredom is killing me; I need to do something exciting.

Isis and Sulli, along with the rest of the crew, had gone outside to see what was going on, but I completely ignored them, focusing only on the captain.

Dante: "Captain, get as close as you can."

Captain: "What do you plan to do?"

Dante: "I'm going to take them both down in the most badass way possible." Meaning, with as few moves as possible.

The captain followed my instructions; after all, we were supposed to get through there. I could tell they noticed us as they fired cannonballs in our direction.

Dante: "Arthur, protect the ship."

Arthur: "Aye," he said, launching an energy blast at the cannonballs, causing them to explode in the air.

Dante: "Isis, help Arthur with whatever he can't; Sulli, check on the wounded, if there are any. Trini, stay out of the way." The aforementioned nodded at me, except for Trini, who growled at me, still unable to stand.

When I saw the ship a good distance away, I looked at Isis and nodded; she nodded back. It was a move I'd done once before, but it served as a shortcut.

With strength, but not much, I jumped off the ship. Right there, Isis created a wind conduit with her wind, and using it, a wall of wind; like a springboard, she sent me to where the pirate ships were.

As I passed through the conduit, I couldn't breathe, but it didn't matter since the wind conduit wouldn't last long. Once finished, I began using Geppo to reach the ships; meanwhile, I spun the Fusion Sword like the propellers of a helicopter to generate centrifugal force.

Now at a good distance and with a ship in sight, using speed and centrifugal force, plus the combination of Haki, I launched an energy attack at the ship. When the attack hit the ship, it split in two. I didn't notice which pirates they were or which side they were from; I really don't care. I had planned to take them both down the same way.

I landed on the ship, split in half, and heard some explosions but didn't think anything of it. Once I touched the ship, I jumped again, tilting the ship halfway, causing it to sink faster into the sea.

In the air, I performed the same attack again, starting from another ship, but this time from the opposing side. I was like this for about three ships until I heard gunfire from a ship.

Blocking the shots aimed at me with my sword, I shot toward the guy. Once on the ship, the pirate tried to shoot again; he had no other attack. With a soru, I launched myself at the man; he was able to react, using his hardening to defend himself. No matter how much I used Haki, my sword is made of adamantium, and with the speed I was going, his defense wasn't enough. With a simple slash, I sent him hurtling against the ship's mast. I saw blood fall to the ground, colliding with it and shattering it, causing it to fall. His Haki wasn't strong at all.

In passing, I looked where the explosives were, and with an energy attack that pierced the ship, I detonated them, causing half the ship to explode.

I'm a hero, not a savior. These guys are pirates, and that doesn't equal good people, so I don't care if they die or not. Good pirates are a small minority.

I jumped again to direct my attack at another ship, but this time something different happened.

A large man blocked the attack. His right arm shone brightly; this guy looked familiar to me, but I don't remember who he was. I only know he's a fruit user.

Using Geppo to get to the pirate, I put away the Fusion Sword and unleashed Nemesis to attack.

Pirate: "You must be very arrogant to dare to fight me head-on."

Dante: "We'll see about that."

*In another moment*

Third-person POV

Trini: "If they don't kill Dante for what he's doing, then I'll kill him myself." She said, peering from a distance through binoculars.

Arthur: "What happened this time?"

Trini: "See for yourself which crew the moron is attacking."

Arthur handed over the binoculars to see what was going on.

Arthur: "Fucking awesome."

Isis: "What? Who are they?"

Arthur: "It's Whitebeard's crew."

Sulli and Isis: "Nani!!!"

From afar, Dante could be seen destroying the ships until a pirate blocked his attack.

Arthur: "I think he ran into one of Whitebeard's commanders; I have no idea who he is." He said as he lowered his binoculars, "I just hope God has mercy on our souls."

*Put it back where we were.*

Dante's POV:

I fell onto the ship where the enemy was. They lunged at me using their Devil Fruit; I dodged their attack with relative ease. Over the past few days, I've increased not only my strength but also my speed. I know I'll never be the strongest in the world, nor the most resilient; therefore, I just have to be faster than them to avoid taking damage and have more opportunities to attack, like now.

With my speed and Soru, the pirate couldn't keep up with my movements; despite that, he covered his entire body with his fruit. He couldn't see me, but he knew I was going to attack him, so he went on the defensive, but it wouldn't do him any good.

I stood next to him and, using Nemesis, punched him in the face, causing all the glow on his face to vanish in an instant, before he flew to the other end of the ship.

Dante: "Heh, dependent fruit." He didn't even use Haki to defend himself. He must have thought there was no way to break his defense.

I had to act; I wasn't going to let him recover; unlike him, I wasn't going to let my guard down.

He barely got up; I was already in front of him. He tried to defend himself, but he couldn't. With speed and versatility, I landed consecutive blows with Nemesis.

Since my weapon was made of sea stone, it not only nullified the Devil Fruit's power but also weakened the user. This guy had a body sculpted for defense, but as soon as he touched Nemesis, all his defense and strength plummeted. In other words, it was as if the blows ignored defense; they were pure, true blows.

No matter how many blows I threw at him, the guy didn't fall; it's not that I didn't hurt him; he simply had the will to never fall. Therefore, I only have two options; I never liked the second, so I'll stick with the first.

Standing next to the guy, I extended my arm and wrapped Nemesis around him; that way, he'd be under the effects of the sea stone the whole time. Without wasting any time, I hit him once in the face, then three, then five, until I reached 11 hits, and then jumped, kicking him in the nose.

Unable to resist, he took all my blows and flew off, crashing into the ship's main cabin. Using my Observation Haki, I realized the pirate was unconscious.

I breathed a sigh of relief. This guy looked familiar, so he couldn't be a simpleton, so I took the path of defeating him without him being able to do anything in return.

???: "Yes, Commander, Marco was able to defeat Commander Juzo." I heard some of the other pirates talking in a den den mushi; I was so focused on my fight that I ignored everything around me.

???: "Escape as quickly as possible and come back here. We have Juzo's vivre card, so even if they capture him, we can rescue him." I heard a voice from the conch.

The pirate realized I'd seen him; startled, he dropped the den den mushi and ran away.

I picked up the den den mushi, ignoring the running guy, and I realized his shape looked familiar.

???: "Hey, hey, are you there?"

I sort of started looking around. The ships that were fighting had now scattered and were fleeing from here. Marco's and Juzo's names came back to me. I looked at the ship's flag and froze.

It was the Jolly Roger of the Whitebeard Pirates. No wonder the guy looked familiar; I just didn't recognize him because he's younger than in the anime and because my desire for battle clouded my perception of reality.

[Congratulations, you have defeated a commander of Whitebeard's pirates. For this achievement, you have been awarded 250,000,000 LP.]

I attacked one of Whitebeard's commanders, and they most likely know about it, if that Marco is the Marco I'm thinking of.

Now I can only think of one thing.

Dante: "I screwed up."

*In Moby-Dick*

Whitebeard was still drinking carelessly while reading the book "The Legend of King Arthur" when Marco entered his cabin.

Marco: "Father, Juzo's skirmish went wrong, and he was captured." Whitebeard looked a little surprised at this revelation.

Whitebeard: "Juzo was capable of taking on those pirates; something must have happened." He knew his sons' capabilities; they might not have been as strong as him, but they had the ability to defend themselves, especially Juzo.

Marco: "According to what I heard, they were battling the enemy when someone arrived and began destroying everything in his path. Juzo tried to stop him but was defeated by a sea stone weapon." That was the reason; I trust his Devil Fruit a lot.

Whitebeard: "Is it known who he is?"

Marco: "Based on his features, it's him," he said, showing him a newspaper photo. Dante's face was prominently displayed on it.

Whitebeard looked down at the book he was holding and then back at the newspaper.

Marco: "Who do we send to rescue Juzo?"

Whitebeard: "No one, since I plan to go directly myself," he said, standing up and putting the book aside. "I've been intrigued by this brat for a while; he looks a lot like someone I've fought before."

Marco: "Are you sure, Father?"

Whitebeard: "Don't worry, he won't be able to scratch me." He said, laughing to himself, "Now use the Vivre Card to get to them; let's see what this hero is made of."

(Note: This is an indication that Dante is forgetting certain details of One Piece, since the human brain erases memories. Therefore, as the fic progresses, Dante will forget things like a normal person; in other words, he won't remember all the details of One Piece like other fics where the protagonists have perfect memories.)
