"Miss Lucy, right? It was indeed thoughtless of me. Something others chase as their dream, I handed over too casually... That could hurt someone. I sincerely hope you'll forgive me." Lin Mo gave a slight nod of apology.

"Heh, no need for forgiveness. I just came to return the ticket. That's all." Lucy's voice was cold and detached as she turned to leave.

The first time they met, she saw him in an Arasaka Academy uniform and tried to swipe his chip—only for him to react instantly. After a short clash, she was defeated and unexpectedly spared.

The second time, she tried to hack into his processor, but again, he broke her intrusion just as quickly.

After two offenses, anyone else would have lost their patience. But not only did he spare her again, he even seemed to read her mind, magically pulling out a Moon Travel Ticket.

If anyone needs forgiveness here, it's her—for being the one who picked the fight in the first place.

Though she had considered capturing and interrogating him, it was clear this boy wasn't someone she could easily corner. Even her advanced hacking skills couldn't break through his ICE fast enough.

Unless she ambushed him from the shadows, he'd always react first.

"Wait. It's rare that we run into each other. Why not stay and talk a bit?" Lin Mo's eyes shifted as an idea sparked. He quickly stopped her.

At the same time, he tugged at David's sleeve and gave him a look.

David froze for a second, then his eyes lit up—like a monk receiving sudden enlightenment.

"Hey! Weren't you the one who stole my chip?!" He stepped forward, trying to grab Lucy by the arm.

Lucy's expression turned cold. She spun around and, with a smooth joint lock, had David pinned against the glass railing in seconds.

His arm twisted painfully behind his back, David was completely immobilized.

Lin Mo blinked, watching it all unfold... and promptly did what any good classmate would do.

"You two go ahead and chat—I've got class. Later!" He shoved his hands into his pockets and whistled as he walked off, playing it cool like this had nothing to do with him.

"Hey, hey, Lin Mo! You're seriously leaving me here?!" David shouted in disbelief.

"Lin Mo, didn't you say your name was Lei Feng?" Lucy raised an eyebrow, holding David in place as she glanced at Lin Mo with suspicion.

David looked at him, confused. "Wait, your name's Lei Feng?"

Lin Mo: ...

Damn. He hadn't expected this hacker girl to take that random alias seriously.

He coughed awkwardly, then seeing David's pitiful expression, decided to cut the joke short. His expression calmed, and he said evenly:

"Let him go. He really did have his chip stolen before."

"Oh? And how do I know you won't attack me once I let him go?" Lucy smiled, but her tone was sharp.

Lin Mo opened his palms slightly. "If I wanted to attack you, you wouldn't even be able to react... Ma'am."

"Tch. Cocky little punk," Lucy muttered. She glanced at David, who was still squirming with stubborn resistance, then sighed and released him, stepping back.

David retreated to Lin Mo's side, clearly shaken. But with Lin Mo nearby, he stood a little taller, even puffing out his chest a bit.

Lin Mo smirked. The whole scene reminded him of a meme.

—"We're so strong together."

"So? What do you want?" Lucy asked, leaning elegantly against the glass railing, one hand on her hip.

"Nothing major. Just wondering—if you really did steal my friend's chip, could you at least return the eddies? He's..." Lin Mo paused, swallowing the words "not from a rich family."

"...he doesn't have as much pocket money as I do," he said, glancing at David with amusement.

Lucy stared at David, as if scanning his ID.

"It's my job. Do you remember everyone you meet at work?" she asked without a shred of guilt.

"Calling that a job is giving it way too much credit," Lin Mo scoffed.

"If I say it's a job, it is. And right now, you two are interfering with it," Lucy said flatly.

Lin Mo was about to reply, but David leaned over and whispered:

"Lin Mo, we can't stay too long. Class is about to start. Let's just ignore her for now."

Damn... the simulator really nailed the timeline.

Sure, being a little late was no big deal, but Lin Mo figured this conversation was going nowhere. Lucy clearly wasn't someone who could be persuaded easily.

She had her own stubborn principles.

With a sigh, Lin Mo gave up the idea of convincing her directly. He pulled a card from his pocket and flicked it toward Lucy like a dart.

She caught it easily, eyebrows slightly raised, then examined it.

[Lin's Waste Disposal Studio]

Phone: XXXXXXXX

Seeking talented professionals. Excellent pay. Free Trauma Team Silver Membership upon hire. Flexible hours—work only when the boss does. Full freedom outside of mission hours. Any equipment damaged during work can be reported for reimbursement. Great pay, great benefits—what are you waiting for?

Even Lucy's solid poker face twitched slightly at the absurdity. She looked up at Lin Mo like, "Are you seriously messing with me right now?"

"If you're really short on work, come find me. I could use the help," Lin Mo said, shrugging casually.

David turned to look at Lin Mo in disbelief, remembering what he said the other day.

No way. That garbage studio? Who the hell would work there besides me?

He still assumed Lin Mo's "waste disposal" operation was about literal trash—filthy, smelly garbage. Like this hacker girl would go for that?

But Lucy looked at the card again... and then at Lin Mo. It clearly wasn't a typical "trash" gig.

And no legitimate job offered benefits that generous.

She smirked, twirled the card between her fingers, and looked at the two boys.

"I'll think about it."

With that, she turned and walked away without another word.

Lin Mo didn't care. He turned back toward the academy.

"Hey Lin Mo, did you seriously just invite her to join your studio?" David asked, clearly conflicted.

"What? You don't like the idea?" Lin Mo raised an eyebrow.

"You're the boss. I don't have a say. But still... isn't that letting her off too easy?" David muttered.

"Relax. If you join, you'll be my first employee. That makes you her senior if she joins—and that makes you her boss." Lin Mo grinned.

"Just imagine her calling you 'boss' with that reluctant look on her face... Pretty satisfying, right?"

David's eyes lit up instantly, a scene already playing in his mind:

Lucy, dressed in a trash collector's uniform, shovel in hand, trudging toward a mountain of waste while he and Lin Mo sat on plastic chairs nearby, barking orders through a megaphone...

"That's... beautiful."
